It is so bad
The only way to vote is the app. So I download the app - i didnt want to, but i want to vote. After I download it i saw a nice colours and some contents but really it was not interesing for me as i always wacht the eurovision live on tv. And the biggest disapointment was that you need yo pay for Your vote. I am using giffgaff i have free calls and SMS but eurovision Team provide number to vote wchich you need to pay fee for it and i was not able to vote. First time from many years i wasnt vote - there was always a way to vote by phone or by internet. This year you open to world but probably you exclude so many people from europe from voting. Thank you Eurovision 2023
Better late than never?
The ESC app finally arrives just a week before the event itself starts, meaning almost all the run up to the contest has been missed.
There are no artist profiles or short previews of the songs themselves within the app, the only useful information is a Facebook like wall of postings in the 'Timeline' section.
Under 'Live Show' you get a countdown timer to when the live shows start, along with a video showing you what you are supposed to be able to do with the app, such as see the artist Biography, Song Lyrics and Country Info whilst watching the live programme on TV, but none of that is actually available at the moment (maybe they expect you to read it all whilst that actual song is playing that night?). My confidence isn't helped by the fact that even though the introductory video is 16:9 format, it doesn't use the full screen of the iPhone5/iPod5 models -- I could understand that being overlooked if it was a lone independent developer working from his bedroom in his spare time, but this is the official app of Eurovision- the greatest cultural event in the global music calendar!
Hardly the worst app in the world
Not bothered about not being able to vote, as good old Graham informed me that it isn't possible if you're in the uk. (maybe other commentators do the same?) The hosts might not give accurate info for your specific geographical location, but that's not a problem with the app itself.
The stories are kept pretty up to date, although the countdown is broken (again) and has said the competition is starting in 149 days for about a month. Otherwise, it's easy to use and new updates and stories are added regularly.
