Now works with iOS13.2.3

Great app but it had not been working properly on an iPhone 7 since iOS13 had been released. There was an incompatibility error with HomeKit which caused the Eve app to get stuck on “Initializing HomeKit”. So I had to delete the Eve and HomeKit apps and re-add every Eve device each time there was an app update or new iOS release. Very time consuming and frustrating plus all historical data is lost. It’s only been fixed now with iOS 13.2.3 so I really hope this error is not reintroduced later. However all historical data has been lost again so it still needs an iCloud backup/restore facility.

Overrated, lacks some very basic functionality

I recently bought the Eve Degree thinking that this could be used to provide alerts (and hopefully) some automation off of the back of these alerts, however, this isn’t the case. The Eve Degree can integrate with Siri via Shortcuts and can be used to flash a light etc but amazingly can’t send you a notification when a temperature has been reached, so not much use if you’re not there to witness it. Also on a related note, the Eve Degree battery life is terrible, and judging by how quickly it is draining I probably won’t bother with it once this battery is dead.
Just for reference, I ended up buying a SwitchBot thermometer (I already had the Hub) and along with Homebridge running on a Raspberry PI I now have what I needed, ie, a thermostat that provides notifications plus HomeKit compatibility.

Hello Mikeb71! HomeKit does not provide text notifications for temperature or humidity, for no sensor. Only Apple could add this functionality. Solutions that are not pure HomeKit may, but this is not an option for a HomeKit enabled sensor. If you have more questing, you may want to send me a mail volker@evehome.com

Overpriced products with no support

I have a handful of Eve products and they're of ok quality, although for the price, not very sturdy, e.g.: LED strip extensions have to be soldered or taped together, otherwise they come loose, which isn't the case with alternatives that are 1/10th of the price. The indoor sensor also isn't humidity-proof, so it broke at 85% humidity. All that wouldn't be that bad, but I've been having connectivity issues and unresponsive app interfaces as of late and wrote to support a month ago, and despite Elgato's claims that they provide support in 24 hours, it's almost been a month and I've gotten no response from them yet. Does the company still exist or did they go bankrupt or something?

Anyway, for these reasons, I'd recommend sticking with much cheaper alternatives.

Developer Response ,

Hello! It is Eve by the way and not Elgato. All customers get an answer in support within 24 hours. Some have to check their spam folder to find it though. Best regards, volker
