Change settings to make this version work
This app was ok on a low SD stream but since the recent app update it struggles to get beyond the “buffering” message.
I have set to the lowest quality and lowest frame rate and I have a pretty reasonable ADSL upload speed so see no reason why it should not work. I have tried rebooting the NVR etc
With a hint from another review, I now have it much better and can see remotely even with a better quality sub stream. The trick for me was to change the HTTP port. Odd that it did not cause a problem before with the old app. Settings that work for me on standard ADSL2 broadband are
Log into NVR main menu
Encode tab- in Extra Stream column use D1, 2, VBR, high, 2
IP tab - change HTTP port from 80 to 83 (this is the key step) and Transfer Policy to Fluency Preferred
Log out and back in again on the mobile app
I find the app to be very unstable, continuous time outs. I can not change between SD/HD for mobile viewing as it sometimes works and other times gives me half an error message. Same problem across all devices that I use.
After a regretful but I decided to search for a way to make my money worth the spend. I accessed my router settings and enables port forwarding (BT Hub 5) and now all seems to be work wonderful. I am happy to help anyone that needs it
How can it be unstable
I don't write reviews but I've had enough. For such a big company like qvis you would expect them to have their own dedicated app with their own name branding. This app is terrible. I completely agree with the reviewer below. Constantly timing out for no apparent reason. And what's up with this "Application may be unstable" if you continue. Absolutely rubbish. Please fix the bugs. It even has issues when rotating or selecting the correct camera number. Not to mention the terrible terrible zoom feature which is completely out of line and doesn't go back to Normal.
