Description

eyparent is a dedicated app that aims to engage parents and help them to understand their child’s development on a more regular and real-time basis, through their child’s learning journey. Nurseries can keep parents informed and involved with comments, home observations, daily diaries, reports, accident/incident sheets and messages. When integrated with eymanage and payment gateways, parents also have a full overview of their account and can view and pay invoices online.

Great app - could be improved by sharing EYFS goals with parents

This is a fantastic app as both parents and carers at nursery can upload observations. This app could be improved with 2 features:
- allowing parents to see (and tick) which EYFS goal an observation may relate to when parents submit photos/videos
- an ongoing summary to show parents which of their child’s EYFS goals are emerging, in development or secured. This would permit a more cohesive and collaborative parent-nursery approach to documenting a child’s learning journey and experiences, because sometimes a child may demonstrate skills at home but not at nursery and vice versa, but a parent may not know/think to document it without an up-to-date/real-time summary of skills.

Poor experience. Bad design.

The app claims to be doing some things that would be useful to parents. It does not. Some things that would have made the app useful:
Ability to see what our babies had to eat throughout the day (at the moment, we can only see how much they had: None, Some, All). The App Store pictures show it already does it. It does not. My baby’s nursery need to add the meals he had as a “note”.
Being able to scroll more easily through the descriptions of observations on a mobile phone. Easy on a desktop. Very difficult on a mobile.
Ability to add photos into the account (either via a mobile app or the website).
Ironically, even though this is a native mobile app, it hasn’t been optimised for mobile. The experience is very poor. The design is very old. I’ll be not recommending it to anyone. I’m also in the process of getting my nursery to change the provider completely.

Unusable on iPhone SE

I can’t scroll messages to the bottom. I have to use two fingers to minimise the screen to read all messages. The same applies to replying to messages, I can’t do it anymore as it’s at the bottom of the screen where I can’t get. Also when a daily report sent is long with notes, it blocks the screen and I can’t easily access other details. Attached pictures are poor quality too in app. Very unfriendly app to users and just not fit for purpose. Messages and daily reports is what I use daily and if they can’t serve their basic purpose like read it easily and reply, then it’s a very low quality app. I hope our nursery can change it to a different app. The developers have a lot of work to do here, but it doesn’t seem other reviews are taken into consideration as I’m not the only one with similar review.
