Not fit for purpose

I purchased 2 Focus 72 cameras this week. Both have excellent images and the ability to ‘pinch’ to zoom is a positive element. However one of them alerts to movement detection, the other doesn’t. To describe motion detection at 10 metres is farcical. You need to be within about three feet of the camera to activate the censor on the one that DOES work (this is located about 6’ above ground level). The other, covering the driveway is affixed to the wall about 10’ above ground level and thus is worse than useless. It’s fair to say that these cameras are not as described, and in my opinion not fit for purpose and certainly not as described. The instructions are basic but adequate to set up and install but lack any information on troubleshooting problems. I cannot blame the wi-fi as I have Bt infinity and signal strength is excellent.

Update;
I have just updated the firmware for both cameras and I’m pleased to report that the above limitations have apparently been addressed. I had been reluctant to do so because of the negative feedback. Motion detection for both, and at about 10 metres. One error was resolved by switching off the scheduler. This would have been addressed earlier if the cameras and app had improved instructions / guidance and a FAQ facility. Pleased to update to four star from the previous two.

Latest updates on the Hubble App!

I too am updating my review as everything has been working perfectly for a month or two now. It is telling me that I need to update the firmware and I’ve downloaded the app to do that but it wants to take me back to the beginning to relink the camera. I’m working on the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy. If there is a good reason to update the firmware please let me know!

Please sort out this ridiculous remote stream request that pops up every 5 minutes. This camera was brilliant when I bought it as I could monitor my sick father and now use it as a baby monitor for my grandchildren, but this ridiculous pop up is downright inconvenient. Developers - please remove this or give us the option in the settings to have it on or off! Like a previous reviewer I have noticed that it is much slower to connect to the camera stream than when I first had it so please sort that as well!

Hi HMCar,

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I am glad to hear you are having a good experience for a few months now.
In regards to the streaming time out (5 min). The app allows unlimited video access if the app and camera are connected on local WIFI router network, ie. at home, provided no extender or signal booster is used.

When you are accessing your Hubble camera from a network outside of your home Wi-Fi® your video streaming times out after 15 minutes. You can tap on the Camera from the Hubble for Motorola Monitors app to start streaming again.

Alternatively you can deactivate the 'Remote Streaming Timeout' (Android)/‘Remote View Timeout’(iOS). This option can be found under Application Settings (under Account Settings) if you are an Android™ user. If you are an iOS user you can find this option in your phone settings: Open your Phone Settings, scroll down to the Hubble for Motorola Monitors app and select it. Then in the section ‘Streaming’ toggle the slider to disable ‘Remote View Timeout’.

If you are accessing from the Hubble web app, then you can press the ‘Reload’ button to start viewing the video streaming again. It is currently not possible to de-activate the timeout on the Hubble web app.

And for the firmware update, please reach out to me at oliver@hubbleconnected.com and let me know the email address of your Hubble account and I will be able to give further information about this update.

Working OK but what's happened to the temperature monitoring??

UPDATE TO REVIEW
A couple of days after I wrote this review the event log started working fine again and has been ok since then. My only gripe now is that the temperature monitoring is 'stuck' on 19C and has not changed since the update, despite me knowing that the temperature of the room is not constant (I have another temperature gauge in the room). I don't believe it's a fault with the sensor on the camera as it was working fine before the update, providing changing readings as expected, plus it was in any event a more accurate reading pre update as it reported to 0.1C intervals. I'd like to know if anyone else has reported this and if it is a glitch in the update.
END OF UPDATE
Had the camera for a couple of years and always been fine with no problems. But I was getting fed up with the constant message to update the app every time I opened it, so I finally relented and downloaded the update today. Wish I'd not bothered! I can still see the live stream but no events are being logged at all, even though all settings are fine. If I can't see an event log then the camera is a bit pointless. No useful information on the help and support pages, so not sure where to go next. Maybe bin the app and camera and buy something new. My advice is if your camera and app are working fine DO NOT UPDATE.

Developer Response ,

Hello,

Thank you for your update, I would like to have a look at the temperature issue you mentioned, please email me at oliver@hubbleconnected.com with reference to this comment and I will then take it from there and do my best to get this resolved as soon as possible.
