Description

Winner of the 2021 iF Design Award 2021. Bluelink 2.0 takes linking your smartphone to your Hyundai to another level: The new Bluelink app enhances your Hyundai driving experience even further with a whole new look and even more Connected Car features. Find your Hyundai, or use the map feature to find parking, fueling stations, nearby restaurants, or other points-of-interest. Then simply send the destination to the navigation system in your car.

You can also use your phone as a remote to lock or unlock your car, and, if you drive a Hyundai electric vehicle, the app lets you control charging, as well as cooling or heating.

Here’s a list of our most popular connected car features:
1. Find my car: Never forget where you parked again. A map pins your Hyundai’s exact location.
2. Send to car: Find parking spaces, fuel stations, restaurants or other points of interest and send the destination to your in-car navigation system.
3. Vehicle report: Monthly reviews of vehicle starts, driving and idle time, driving distance.
4. My trips: See a summary of previous trips including journey time, distance driven, average and top speeds.
5. Vehicle status: Check in on fuel or charging level, doors and windows, heat or air conditioning, and battery level and lamps.
6. Remote door lock/unlock: Lock and unlock your vehicle.
7. Remote climate control (EV only): Set the temperature and activate the air conditioning remotely.
8. Remote charging (EV & PHEV): Check and control the charging process.
9. View around My Vehicle: Turn on the camera in the outside mirror to see what it currently sees.
10. Alarm: Receive notifications when the door locks are compromised.
11. User Profile: Save your profile and car settings to the Bluelink-Cloud for backups and transfers to a new Hyundai.
12. Valet Parking Mode (select models): Monitor your car (location, driving time, driving distance and top speed) while somebody else is driving.
13. Last Mile Navigation: If your destination can’t be reached by car, the app can take you there on foot.
14: Calendar: Sync your phone’s calendar with the app.
15. Personalisation: Turn features on and off and customise your app’s home screen.

Why can’t you change the car colour?

The app works - although sometimes a bit counterintuitively and makes odd choices. I don’t understand why some basic stuff is missing. For instance, having paid for a specific colour why isn’t this reflected in the app, or why can’t I select my car colour in the app? (It’s not about clarity as the default white isn’t the best for this). Also, the variety of settings you can change remotely is a bit random. Why not mirror everything? Greater access to data would be welcome, especially the ability to export it or visualise it better (if you’re trying to change behaviour, pique interest, or provide data for those interested). Clearly a lot of telemetry is gathered continuously, so why not share more of it? It’d be great to be able to change CO2 emissions mitigated from lbs to Kg (or others), though this is a setting in the car, not the so - although i can change units in the app, i can’t change these (useless) units. TL:DR improve consistency, customisation, and data.

Very annoyed Amazon app user ,

Embarrassingly poor.

If I were Hyundai I’d be highly embarrassed releasing this app. It’s glitchy as mad and doesn’t provide a true record of your statistics. It just seems to work when it wants. When you are using this as the main interface with an almost £40,000 vehicle, it just isn’t acceptable. I’m pretty sure school kids could do better than this. I’m going to be writing a formal letter of complaint to Hyundai head office because this is completely unacceptable. The main problem is scheduled charging keeps resetting itself which is extremely annoying and troublesome, Given my charging is set to go on between 12:30 am and 4:30 am. Also, it keeps randomly saying I’m using 60 odd kilowatts of charge after small journeys of say 2 or 3 miles, 3% on driving and 97% on climate control which is absurd, since I never use climate control. Consequently the app is recording far more electricity used than I actually do use. Surely this is going to be a big problem for power companies and their plans to integrate smart meters with cars. And I no longer have a true record of how economical my car is! Disclosure: I have a brand-new Hyundai Kona electric premium. I’ve been using this app now for about 8 months, And it seems to have got worse not better with time

Developer Response ,

Dear User, we are terribly sorry that you have to experience these difficulties. However, this year we have released a couple of updates for the Infotainment-System, which (according to our last feedback from our customers) should solve the display of the consumption, and introduces other fixes as well. Can you maybe check it out and see, if it works for you? You can get it at http://update.hyundai.com. Sincerely, your Bluelink Team

Chapsuey ,

Poorly functioning app which just about does the job.

I’ve been using this app across a number of updates since late 2021 and whilst the main functions do generally work, persistence is needed and the app is glitchy and rough to use. The main issue, certainly to the end user, seems to be the bugginess of the app actually establishing a workable connection to the car, often the app gets stuck in a cycle of failing to connect and display correct data. On a frequent basis, the only sure way to get it to connect is to clear down the app, reopen and try again to reconnect. Also, the app regularly glitches from miles to km or vice versa. With this said the app does have promising and useful features which I do use from time to time with success. It’s an app I do have to persevere with for now due to the model of car I drive so it is what it is and hopefully in a few years the app is much more pleasing to use. Thanks nevertheless to the app developer for the reasonably regular updates.

Developer Response ,

Dear User, thank you for your honest and detailed review. We are continuously developing the application based on the feedback of our customers . We will look into this further! Sincerely, your Bluelink Team
