ASN Milestones, Benchmarks, and of course the E's and O's - Making life simple
The Curriculum for Excellence is the basis for the Scottish Educational system and over the years since it's introduction there have been a few additions to improve the achievement of the E's and O's. Included in the CfEApp with Benchmarks now also includes the ASN Milestones, making the app useful to more teachers.
A teacher may access all the information on the Scottish Education Website in various Word, Excel, and PDF formats for class planning. The Curriculum for Excellence App makes accessing the Curriculum for Excellence Experiences and Outcomes easier for Staff and parents directly on their devices.
The use of this App will allow those interested in accessing the Scottish 3-18 Curriculum with ease. Content has been assembled from the Education Scotland Website and once installed requires no access to the internet to be used, making it a simple, lightweight app for your phone and accessible from the broom cupboard if needed!
As a Teacher, I found it difficult to access the information readily in a meeting or general discussion while in school or away at a training day. Either I had to lug about the Experiences and Outcomes folder all the time or be left without it at critical moments in meetings and discussions.
Equally, while planning and trying to match up cross-curricular themes, the folder made the task more difficult due to its size. When a meeting was scheduled, Experiences and Outcomes were printed so everyone had a copy for the discussion. I set about creating something we could all access and use, while at the same time reducing unnecessary printing and additional costs to department budgets.
The Curriculum for Excellence app will sit quietly on your phone and should you require to access an E and O at a point in a meeting or check its relation during an in-service day or educational talk, then this should make it easier to stay focused on what is being discussed and not be thinking about where your folder is or what page you need to turn to.
Please come back and rate this app once you have used it. I know it seems so petty, but this helps other teachers, interested bodies, and parents find it and use it. Even a small like will help out a great deal.
I have tried my best to make the Curriculum for Excellence app as simple to access as possible and for it to be accessible to as many IOS devices as I am able, knowing that technology is moving faster than we are able to purchase gadgets and tech. Fantastic app thank you. Any chance you could now add in or build an app for the Milestones? I work in Special Ed. Also I would be happy to pay for an app which could help me track where children are!

Quick, easy & accessible
Sax flax
A great app for quick referencing!It would be great if it were in a more ‘copy+pasteable’ format as I would like to use it to support my planning when using word or emails.

This App is great as a student teacher it’s invaluable.There are two things that could improve it:1. It should be colour coded in the same colours that the policy documents use.2. If there was an online resource that worked in the same way, which allowed you to copy and paste into planning etc. It would be even more useful. So useful I would be happy to play more for the App.

To explain, I chose the colours early on and as more and more users found the app, changing the colours may have caused confusion, so elected to keep them the way they are.Regarding the saving feature, I am looking into finding a solution for this.
