Too many ads

I used to love this game - there’s always a great range of pictures that’s really satisfying to complete. I also enjoy that you don’t have to purchase locked images, you can opt to watch an ad to unlock it. You can even pixelate and colour an image you’ve taken yourself. BUT… I haven’t played in a while and when I went back into the app a few days ago, there must have been an update because the ads are now intrusive and really annoying. It used to be that every few colour numbers you complete, you’d have to watch an ad and I was okay with that. Now it seems to be in a timer and forces you to watch something every few minutes regardless. You can be mid colouring a section and suddenly it stops working and then an ad is forced on you. Every. Few. Minutes. What was a relaxing game has become annoying and unbearable. And worse, the ads are mostly gambling related and this is a game listed as suitable for kids. I’ve actually uninstalled this app from my children’s pads now because of it. To the developer - please revert back to when the ads were less obtrusive and be mindful which ads are being shown. Ads which literally say 18+ because they are for gambling should have no place in your app.***UPDATE***This is a response to the developers response, in particular about their apps being for audiences over 16. This app is listed in the App Store as 12+. It says it at the top and further down in the information section. If you are trying to justify gambling ads for 18+ by saying your app is for over 16s, then you need to change the age recommendation listed on your app.

My opinion & some thoughts for the game

I love this game a lot and I’ve always went out of my way to finish all daily art that I receive (Hard ones only if I feel like it or if they seem quick to do). I don’t premium but I still watch adverts for each premium picture; I’ve considered buying it someday (Most likely the yearly plan as it seems like the best deal to me). However, this app gets uses quite a bit of my battery and this causes my phones to warm up, resulting in a slow performance (Similar to lag). This, conclusively, makes me give this game a 4 star rating but I wish I could do 4.5 as I understand that ‘big’ apps result in a high usage of battery. Now, I do have some suggestions for this game and It would help me and possibly others too! A hashtagging mechanism where each picture (depending on what it is) has hashtags that if you searched for you could find those specific types of pictures, E.g. A picture of a dog, that is in a winter outfit, goes under 1-3 tags like #Puppy/Dog #Winter #Cute — When you search for any of these tags, You’ll definitely find that picture. This is what would make the game better as it would stop from accidently tapping a picture whilst scrolling down to get to that one picture that you liked and wanted to do later. (This is a problem for me as when I’ve been on Pixel Art for a while then it is a bit slow and it would not allow me to scroll for a second and instead make me choose a picture and then being pushed back to the top.) Anyways, This is my suggestion for the game right now and I would love seeing this as a feature of your app someday. - Kind regards from a fellow pixel art enthusiast

There’s a great range of different drawings of different complexities- some taking 5 minutes and others taking a good few hours- and a lot of them (tried to scroll to the bottom of the page and ended up giving up 😂) with more being added everyday(?). I also like that you can use picture from your camera roll to draw too for when you want to colour something in particular. The way the squares are coloured is also very satisfying and allows me to make mistakes without too much worry besides my own perfectionism. When I downloaded this I saw a lot of reviews complain about the amount of ads on the app and (assuming they’ve updated this) I’ve not had this problem at all- the amount of ads is perfectly reasonable now and unobtrusive in my opinion. I understand why ads/subscriptions are needed by the developers, and also like that you can colour the premium drawings too by watching an ad.

Enjoyable and Addictive

I enjoy the colour by numbers books that you can buy so this kind of app is definitely my kind of app. I have a few problems with it, there are way too many ads, I don’t mind watching an ad in order to access premium pictures but the ads that come up before and after completing a picture is over the top. I think I spend more time watching ads than actually using the app itself.The price for the subscription is also something I have a problem with - £7 is a lot of money to pay for one week of access to pictures and to get rid of ads, especially when there are other apps out there that are similar to this one that don’t charge anywhere near that price. I was, as another review I saw when coming to write my review, charged £7 something for a weeks subscription even though I cancelled the subscription before the first three days free was over, which is slightly discouraging. All in all, I enjoy the features this app has and it’s definitely something that keeps me focused which I have a lot of trouble with, so I find it occupying and fun. It definitely keeps me coming back and the selection of pictures is also great.I hope that there will be an update with a lot less ads in it, but other than that, it’s a great little app!
