“Most importantly, I should stress again how refreshing it feels to have such a great native experience with Unread. The app is really fast, even when it’s loaded up with hundreds of feeds.”
— Niléane, MacStories
“It’s an RSS reader made with taste. It has great typography, themes, search, and compatibility with the usual suspects. I love having this app on my Mac.”
— David Sparks, MacSparky
“Unread is focused on eliminating chrome — it is a pure reading app. It’s like reader mode all the time, and the assortment of color themes is nicely curated.”

Unread has full VoiceOver coverage. Every screen and every feature is available to users with vision impairments:
• From any screen you can perform a magic tap, a two-finger double tap, to open a menu of options available for that screen.
• When on an article list, there are actions available for each article in the list. After selecting an article, invoke the accessibility rotor and then select “Actions”. There is an action to mark the article read or unread, an action to share the article, and many others.
• Use the VoiceOver escape gesture, a two-finger “Z”, to back out of the current screen.

I’ve used a number of RSS readers over the years in the search for one that was powerful and flexible in its feature set. Unread is the app which really does this.Importantly, it has support for iOS and the iPad allowing you to track your reading of items across multiple devices. It can also pull in full feeds from sites like The Verge and Ars Technica where you may have a login.Best of all it offers quite a bit of flexibility in the presentation of feed items which means that you can get things looking as you wish. If you subscribe you get incredibly responsive support responses from John as well as some really nice additional features.
This is The One

I've used a fair few RSS readers in my time and each one always seemed to be lacking something, and then I tried Unread; I haven't looked at another reader since and I never will, I promise. But please, please allow me to reverse the sort order to have the older article at the top of the list!
Really nice reader

I'd been looking for something like this for a while. It's beautiful, and almost perfect. But *please* let reverse the sort order, so that I can read the articles in chronological order! Current, when you get to bottom of an article and drag up, it takes you to the *preceding* one, not the next one! (Hence only 4 stars). But apart from that, perfect.
Developer Response
Thank you for your kind review. You can change the sort order from an article list by swiping the screen to the left, and selecting “Ordering & Grouping” (or just “Ordering” in some cases) from the resulting menu.
Great update

I am really liking the update. Keyboard control is fantastic. One thing I miss from the old version though is the double tap to mark an item as read. It would also be nice to be able to use the left and right arrow keys to perform what command + W and Enter do at the moment.
Developer Response
Thank you for leaving a review. You can reinstate the double tap behavior on the Settings screen. It is On Double Tap under the Article Lists heading. I will consider your suggestion regarding the arrow keyboard shortcuts.Update March 24: Version 2.0.2 lets you use the left and right arrow keys as you requested. This was a great suggestion. Thank you again.
We recently added:
• Syncing with Gobbler
• Improvements to the Matter article action
• Improved display of Reddit posts
• More fine-grained controls for caching of webpage text and images
This update fixes a bug that caused formatting issues in code snippets in some articles. This fix will apply to new articles downloaded after installing this update.
