So the game art style is fun, is the studio’s first game and they really put thought into it. The (big) updates are always fun and interesting. The gameplay is fun, not all the characters and boss are equal but that makes different paths and styles you play more interesting to try. Can be w bit grindy, but easy enough after a few go to get the hang of it!
If you’ve played Slay the Spire, you’ll get deja vu

Hampered by slow currency gains that seems to push you to buy gold in-game though IAPs and one character locked behind a £5 paywall who’s whole gimmick is to earn gold. Seems like the devs just want your money and are capitalising on the recent success of games like Slay the Spire because this is pretty much the exact same thing. But charging £5 for 10,000 gold when there are several characters to unlock who cost like 4,000-8,000 is ridiculous. Especially considering you earn like 50 gold a run and there are meta upgrades and cards to unlock that also cost thousands. Similarities to StS: When you complete a battle you choose a card to add to your deck. You progress through the map through the branching path you choose and each location is a battle, market or event. The market allows you to buy cards or relics, or pay to upgrade cards or remove them from your deck. You have ability points each turn that you use to play cards that can cost varying amounts of ability points. The cards are essentially the same as StS in terms of their effects (1 point for basic strike attack, 3 points to deal 15 damage to all enemies, etc) You can earn relics that have special effects like StS (and one of them is literally ‘remove two curses from your deck’...). You actually drag your cards onto the enemy or yourself if it’s a buff. You can see enemies intentions (attack and amount of damage, buff, debuff) and can shield yourself from damage by playing a shield card in the exact same manner.Literally a pirate-themed Slay the Spire and I really hope the devs do mention this at some point because it’s so blatant they should at least admit it was almost entirely inspired by Slay the Spire.

The game is interesting and has great potential, graphics are great and characters are well drawn. I’m sure new versions will be released in the future with additional content but some things need to be fixed NOW or the game is going to die.The thing that is ruining my gameplay the most is the unstoppable growth of number of cards in your deck. Organising your deck should be made easier!! There is no option to “not pick up a card after battle” and it is impossible to spend money to delete at the tavern because money is so scarse and needed for repairs and upgrades!! I’ve unlocked the second character after grinding to earn the gold to purchase it (1000 gold= 15~20 playthroughs) and I have managed to beat stage 2 of the first scenario a couple of times. You get used to the mechanics after a while and know what cards to pick up etc, but the game is really hard and I wonder whether I will ever finish the first scenario to access the next two?! Let alone unlocking all characters and bonuses (which would make the game easier). For a game that I pay a small sum to play for, I’m surprised to discover that the only way to (SLIGHTLY) increase my chances of progressing is by investing additional money. With no fixes I am probably going to loose interest/hope before any other update is even released! (As are many others)The grind is tedious and repetitive after a while. We need to progress faster or people are just going to abandon and uninstall.Hope my comment gets noticed and changes are made. Great game concept overall.(Also what’s the point of collecting cards? I don’t want to collect the cards, I have only visited the card album once! Give me a real reward: gold or cards I can change my starting deck with, customisation!)
Needs more work

For a game that clearly ‘leans heavily’ on slay the spire, there are more tweaks needed to match that game’s balance and replayability. For starters, it’s way too slow to progress. I suspect that’s to entice people towards micro transactions, yay mobile games. Secondly, there are too many moments where you can lose without a chance - the random nature of some of the cards just frustrates. They may as well go all in and stop the forced card collecting. It’s another annoyance that makes this game too random for me to really get into.
