Offline maps for travel, hikes, and rides. Smooth navigation without signal or battery drain. OpenStreetMap data, 100% free, ad-free.
Organic Maps is a fast, detailed offline map and GPS navigation app for travel, hikes, and rides. Plan, import, and record routes, and enjoy smooth guidance without draining your battery or using an internet connection. Explore places and navigate safely during your outdoor adventures and travels around the world. The app offers unlimited map downloads and biweekly updates. OpenStreetMap-based, volunteer-made, privacy-first, 100% offline, and 100% free.
OFFLINE: The app works 100% offline — including search and navigation. You can explore the map and navigate without an internet connection, saving on mobile data and roaming fees. And with no background data transfers, your battery lasts much longer.
FAST: Zooming, search, and route calculations work noticeably fast.
DETAILED & UPDATED: The maps are rich in detail and refreshed twice a month to reflect real-world conditions. Unlike many well-known competitors, they include building labels, benches, hiking paths, and other helpful information.
OPENSTREETMAP-BASED: OpenStreetMap is a wiki-style world map built and maintained by millions of volunteers — locals who know their areas best. This community effort results in highly detailed maps, often more accurate than commercial ones in less-mapped regions. Organic Maps updates its data from OpenStreetMap every two weeks, keeping your maps fresh and reliable. And if you notice something missing, you can add it to OpenStreetMap and help improve the map for everyone.
PRIVACY-FIRST: We don’t collect any data or identifiers. This means there’s no risk of data leaks and no distractions like ads or noisy notifications — just a clean, private map experience.

After realising and understanding just how much of my data has been taken my Google Maps, I’m being slightly disappointed that although Apple maps are fantastic experience and really safe and they just don’t have all the details on and when I tried updating the really slow, this is just the best there is great detail on here have been updated by local people. It is super easy to add and correct things and it’s totally free and private. You get more people involved with your community. As soon as you’re all using it. Your local area will be populated and feel that with correct information super quick, and then if everyone did that, we would be outstripping googles performance easily. with no cost to our privacy, flipping amazing, well done I will be donating a small amount to you. Thank you very much.

Excellent design philosophy, thanks

I use almost daily a number of mapping apps, both on desktop Mac and iOS / iPad. I also regularly update the OSM base-map on my travels. On iOS I find GoMap! great for editing the OSM database and I also use UKMap for offline mapping in the UK. On Garmin I find the TalkyToaster (paid for) maps the best for small screens. I use GPXStudio (web-based) to create new tracks, it has a Strava Heat-map layer which is brilliant. So, I can do almost all GPX editing and creating now with iOS based tools.A need to use mapping outside the UK in September this year brought me here! All the apps I used to use abroad are more or less dead, replaced with strange paid for only options with lots of social functionality, which doesn’t interest me at all.Organic Maps is clear and simple to use. I hope to be able to curate and display a lot of tracks I have collected over the years. (I use GPX viewer for this at the moment). But organising many different sets of data can get a bit tiresome. Organic Maps does iCloud sync, which is very very good too. Means I can curate the tracks on my iPad and have them appear instantly on the iPhone for use outside. It would be great if there were an Intel Mac version of Organic Maps too… I see you have a solution that can work with Apple Silicone…! An excuse to buy one of those?I look forward to future update.I will have to donate in the near future once I’ve used it a bit more.Thanks.

Great ad free app!

Overall I’ve been very pleased with the app. It’s been extremely useful when out hiking, as regions can be downloaded and used completely offline. No ads, everything works as it should, and I like the map style too! A few improvements I would really like to see on the future: - Being able to plan custom walking routes (incrementally point by point instead of adding stops). I might have just missed it but I can’t find a way of planning a walk in a full loop (same start and finish). The ability to choose from a range of base layer maps would be helpful. For a free app it’s amazing though!** UPDATEI must’ve missed the fact it has GPX support so thanks for letting me know!

GPX import already works. Open a GPX file with Organic Maps from any other app. Other features are planned, they require more focus on the UX.
Free app - free maps & works offline
HimAgainAgain
Not for profit FOSS (free open source software) written and maintained by the community that renders OSM - a free community created and maintained global map (cf Wikipedia - knowledge shared by the community). Needs no mobile network internet connection to function. It is ideal to avoid extortionate roaming data network charges when travelling abroad. It keeps working where there is no network coverage in remote areas when hiking. OSM shows routes like footpaths commercial operators ignore because they cannot “monetise” them from advertisers. App does not yet import gpx tracks but, with support, the community will keep making it better. Peerless free offline mapping on portable Apple devices.
