Really happy with the app, and being able to read loads of back issues when you have a subscription for a certain magazine (in my case, Retro Gamer). I really like the Article view, as it makes it easier to read on a phone. There a few things that could be improved.Sometimes the article view misses out headings, doesn’t line up text with screenshots, or sometimes just gets the word wrong (there was a ‘Composer Q&A, which the article view converted to ‘Computer Q&A).I don’t like that it instantly downloads an issue of a magazine the moment you open it. I like that you can download issues, but sometimes I go through a few to find one I want to read. I then have to manually delete each one I didn’t want to read. If I forget, it uses up precious space on my phone.Other than these minor gripes, I’m very happy with the app.
Was great but no longer

This app was fantastic. I could read my magazine and also save to pdf to print out the patterns from my Parchment Craft magazine. Sadly I updated to iPad Pro 2020 using iOS14.3 and now when I try to save it only saves the covers of the magazine no matter which page I press. I also tried the Parchment Craft app and have the same problem. This renders my magazine useless as the whole point of it is to make the things in it using the patterns which need to be traced. I brought this to Pocketmags attention and they told me to use Chrome or Firefox on the website - which still did not work for me - and then to go on a PC or Mac. I have neither and they are still advertising both these apps on the website from the Apple App Store. Asked for my money back for the latest magazine (which I get monthly) but no response yet - still it is New Year I guess. Needs to be fixed and they have now lost my business.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. I understand that we have now replied by email with an interim solution to use on the iPad. We are investigating further as to whether we can restore the previous functionality that you mentioned. Many thanks again and our apologies for any inconvenience caused.UPDATE: Thanks for your feedback, the share functionality allowing the save of a page has now been fixed. Our apologies for any inconvenience and frustration that this had caused.
Still a mixed experience

I am getting used to reading mags digitally. There are downsides - the biggest is it’s not easy to share stuff with family and friends like you would a regular mag. But it is convenient and saves space. But the experience is still quite basic. For example I was reading a mag yesterday with lots of good articles so I bookmarked them. It has now taken me a day to find how to access these bookmarks, and I can only access the bookmarks within that mag and only on that device! Not useful at all - I need to remember where I saw everything (I have Pocketmags plus- lots of mags to read!) and then I can’t pick them up on my iPhone from the iPad. They should sync and there needs to be a bookmarks section in My Library, not per mag.
Developer Response
Hi, many thanks for your feedback, we really appreciate it. Improved bookmarking is indeed on the roadmap and we expect it to launch it later this year. This will allow syncing across your Pocketmags account and for your bookmarks to be accessed outside the issue. Many thanks again for your feedback, and your patience until the new feature arrives! If there's anything you need in the meantime please don't hesitate to contact us at info@pocketmags.com.
Often only bad things get reviews

People prefer to complain, rather than praise. Here I am, having used this app for some years now without a single problem - so I thought I’d comment. Pocketmags is really good and I’m able to read my magazines across different Apple devices. I’ve built up a library over time so I can go back to previous issues. Quality of the digital material means it is really a no-brainer moving from printed versions, as well as saving trouble. There’s nothing I’d change, so I guess this is a positive review.
NEW: Pocketmags Puzzles now available in-app!
