Real-time messages and in-app chat with your sitter help you easily stay connected. Dog walkers on Rover can send detailed walk reports via report cards, which include GPS routes, walk details and more for extra reassurance that your dog is out enjoying themself. It also makes it easier to track dog walks and see how far your dog goes each time.

Kickstarted my pet walking/sitting career!

I downloaded Rover and set up a profile two and a half years ago, and I was pleasantly surprised! I immediately got contacted by future customers, I thought I’d be waiting forever but no! It’s nice to know that both parties are protected, even if it does mean a 15% cut goes to Rover. The app is really easy to navigate for sitters, however I think things may be a little more confusing on the customer’s end as I’ve had a couple of people complain about not being able to navigate it. Nothing that couldn’t be sorted out though. Having said that, it’s really easy to setup your prices and profile information. Since joining Rover, I have multiple repeat customers, lots of five star reviews which help immensely, and lots of experience. It’s allowed me to build up a nice amount of savings. Lovely app!

Extremely confusing, limited in some areas, a step down from DogBuddy

This app is confusing and not at all user friendly. I’ve had messages from owners I’m working with that I simply can’t find to reply to. The calendar doesn’t show you at a glance what’s coming up. You have to know where to find what you want. You can’t set yourself as limited availability on certain days, only say that you can’t do certain things on that day- meaning I’ve already had someone request a walk at a time I’m not available. I even contacted support for clarification but all they did was refer me to the FAQ- which I had already read and didn’t answer the question of, basically, “is that possible”. Speaking of requesting times for walks, my regular dog owner doesn’t seem to be able to do that and has to manually request the time she wants. A small gripe, but DogBuddy- which was merged into Rover (possibly bought out?)- showed you the total you were going to be paid AFTER they took their percentage. Rover shows you the amount you get BEFORE, which makes payment seem... deflating, rather than a thing to celebrate. I was looking to expand into DogBuddy and was waiting for the changeover before I had business cards printed. Now I’m looking into other avenues. I only have one client who regularly books through Rover now and if they ever decide they don’t need me I can’t imagine I’ll ever use the app again.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback! With the merge, we wanted to create the best experience so everyone can share the love of caring for a dog. DogBuddy users now have access to new features such as new services (House Sitting, Drop-Ins and Cat services) as well as a larger community of 5-star sitters across 10 countries. We value our community's feedback so please do let us know how we can improve: support-uk@rover.com and do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions about how to navigate through the app.
Good but could be much better

It’s a good way to connect owners and sitters but when looking for a sitter there are almost zero filters so it is very hard and frustrating. I have a reactive dog and am looking for sitters with experience with such issues but there is no way to screen for this or search with the keyword “reactive”. Fees are also quite high, and the sitters prices fluctuate a lot? Which has not to do with the sitters changing prices more Rover doing something shady. Like you will book for a service with a sitter for a set price and if you look their prices the second after (mind you offer hasn’t even been accepted yet) they will be noticeably higher for no reason. Not from personal experience but a friend of mine was a sitter on Rover for quite some time and they were zero helpful when she had issues with a dog damaging her home while boarding with her. It’s a nice place to connect but for the fees it charges for its supposed support it’s definitely not worth using it in the long term once you found a sitter.

Hi there, we're sorry to hear this has been your experience. Our team is always looking for ways to make Rover better than ever, and feedback like this helps us do that. We'll be passing your comments along to our product team. Regarding fees, Rover does not adjust sitter pricing. As independent contractors, Rover sitters set their own rates. Rover does charge a 15% service fee in the UK, which may be what you're seeing added. These fees help support our 24/7 Trust and Safety team, our 24/7 Customer Support team, the Rover Guarantee in case of emergencies, payment processing, and more. If you have any other questions, you can reach our support team at (888) 453 - 7889. We're happy to help! -Brittney
Rover is always working on performance improvements and bug fixes (nobody likes fleas) to keep your experience bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
