Experience the magic of GPS audio walks, cycles, drives and even boat rides with VoiceMap's self-guided tours in over 600 destinations worldwide.
VoiceMap tours are like podcasts that move with you, to tell stories about what you’re seeing right now. They're produced by insightful local storytellers, including journalists, filmmakers, novelists, podcasters, and tour guides. Ian McKellen has even created a tour. So have the Daily Show and Sir Stephen Fry.
Why use VoiceMap?
• Explore at your own pace instead of being herded along in a group. Start and stop tours whenever you like, to grab a drink or take in the view, then tap Resume to pick up exactly where you left off.
• Focus on your surroundings, not the screen. With automatic GPS playback, you can just tap on Start and let VoiceMap guide you.
• Avoid expensive roaming fees or fiddly connection issues. After you download a tour, VoiceMap works offline and includes an offline map.
• Enjoy tours as many times as you like, both in your destination and with your feet up, at home. Virtual Playback turns every tour into a podcast or audio book.
• Extend your attention span with indoor tours that help you make the most of your time at a growing range of museums and art galleries around the world.
• With over 2,100 free and paid tours in 80 countries, VoiceMap offers huge variety. There are over 100 tours in London alone!
Press:
“High-quality self-guided walking tours...Narrated by local experts, they provide insight into corners of the city sometimes overlooked by regular guided tours.”
Lonely Planet
“We may be biased, but could there be anything more helpful than having a journalist in your pocket when touring a new city? How about a historian, a novelist or just a really passionate local? VoiceMap culls city-specific stories from them all and fits them neatly into walking tours.”
New York Times
User Testimonials:
"Perfect for solo travelling on your own schedule! Downloaded for a trip to Europe and will be continuing to use it on my next travels."
App Store review, Vialetter
“My wife and I really enjoyed exploring Bruges at our own pace with this audio tour, and there were some memorable stories that the narrator shared. Also, the app worked great in relation to the location-based services. We easily followed the map and the audio was triggered in the appropriate spots. In comparison to the packs of people wandering the city with tour guides, this was a much better fit for us.”
Viator review, Rick A
“Great quality information - interesting and entertaining. The time flew by. And no waffle! This is far better than any other guided tour we found - they are much more expensive and far less informative. And you can do this tour any time, any day, at your own pace, and even do it twice!”
Tripadvisor review, Carcassonne 's Medieval Walls: A Self-Guided Tour
"Thoroughly recommend. Really enjoyed the tour. Very well done. Packed with information and took me round streets I’d never have thought to walk round. An audio and visual treat. Thank you."
Janet, NYC
“It was enjoyable to be under no time pressure to freely roam the city of Pisa as we so pleased. Wandering from attraction to attraction. The app is clever, concise and easy to use! Would do again - especially with another person or solo traveler.”
GetYourGuide review, Grace L
“Great value for money, interesting and very clear and easy to follow! I learnt lots about London I didn't already know and I have lived here over 30 years.”

** Just so you know, GPS runs in the background while you're on a tour. This decreases battery life and it's best to start a tour with your device fully charged.
My sister and I went on trip to London like we have done many times before, but decided that we wanted to do something different. We looked at a few different "walking tour" apps but none seemed like what we wanted until we saw this one. It was a free app with one free tour which we thought we would try. The tour was spoken by Sir Ian McKellen about some of the theatres of London, which we are very interested in anyway. The tour worked brilliantly we only had to look at the map a couple of times once as I got distracted by a coffee shop and talked over the audio and once to make 100% sure we were going in the right direction. We were amazed by how well the gps worked in the built up places in London. I will be recommending this app to anyone visiting London as it showed us places and things in London we had never even noticed before although parts we knew very well. The audio was entertaining, interesting and very easy to follow, but with the security of not having to constantly look at or hold a phone, (just remember your headphones and possibly a way of multiple people being able to hear). Be aware depending on how fast or slow you walk there are times where it is quiet but as long as you follow the instructions it will kick in again. We can't wait for our next trip to London when I am sure we will downloaded one of the tours which you have to pay for and I hope it is as engaging, entertaining and as easy to follow as the theatre tour!
Great tour of another side of Bath

Spending a couple of days in Bath my wife and I decided to try this app for the first time and downloaded the Bath Canal Walk. The app is excellently presented and easy to use. Although we know Bath quite well the walk itself took us to a side of Bath with which we were less familiar - along the canal and up Great Pulteney Road into the park north of the museum. We were blessed with a perfect September day and the walk was very well described and interesting from a local resident who obviously loved his city and knew it very well. The GPS tracker worked perfectly and triggered the commentary at just the right points. It was great not having to follow everything on the phone as the audio directions were bang on, but if you missed something you could always check the map. We shared a pair of earbuds, one each in one ear, so we could both follow the dialogue together but still be aware of our surroundings. All in all I would highly recommend this app and just wish I found it earlier as I travel a lot around Europe on business and this would have made some of my city trips more interesting.
Can’t recommend this enough

During a short visit to Barcelona, we did the bus tour and I also downloaded this walking tour. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was informative, easy to follow and huge fun! If you took a wrong turn, it was easy to get back on track. You can stop the tour at any time, if you fancy a coffee or something a bit stronger, and then restart when you want. It was humorous but he had obviously done his homework and showed the sights of Barcelona that no one knows about. We were lucky with the weather and in February, it wasn’t that busy so we had enough time for photo ops without being bombed! Lol!!! Definitely worth the money and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to take their time and see the bits of Barcelona that the tourists don’t usually see.
Excellent

Did the audio tour instead of tour guided one so we could do it at a time of our choosing and at our pace. Found it perfectly easy to purchase and download. The instructions were pretty straightforward whilst walking round. We went wrong once but it was easy enough to correct and pick it back up if you follow the map provided on your phone. Although we walked past most of the sites picked out in the 4 days we had already been in Cologne, we had obviously not really ‘seen’ them as, the audio tour highlighted them and gave us interesting Roman facts about them. Very worthwhile and enjoyable. Definitely one to recommend
