Edit: changed from 1 star.After speaking to customer service and them explaining , what was happening, regarding my account and situation. My problem was resolved within 24 hours. Once my account was finally opened withdrawing funds was easy. Yes it was a massive inconvenience for me, but ultimately kept my account and funds safe. Customer service was fantastic handling my problem. ID checks could be faster in my opinion. I still believe they are better exchanges available, with cheaper fees and more availability, but for the average person looking to build their portfolio, this makes buying bitcoin easy.Absolute joke trying to get your money out of this app. Upgraded my phone lost my old number. Nothing but problems from then. Even when you follow the advice and resubmit photos of your ID and yourself your still locked out your funds. Can’t send to a new wallet can’t send back to my bank account but trust they is no problem taking it from it. Far better exchanges out there

Since I first started to use Coinbase . I have been stopped from taking advantage of the changing market. Whenever I want to take profit or buy into various coins my account has been blocked or temporarily disabled due to either KYC (which can take months to review) or because there is some problem with security. Security is a problem at Coinbase causing them to block and disable accounts for months at a time. I think they must be getting constant attacks so need to lock down our accounts. During these times you are not allowed access to your funds or to look to see if your BTC or ETH has been taken after they tell you there has been a security failure. The worry is intense because they say nothing and ask you to wait and wait. There is nobody to talk to and they do not accept emails or phone calls. I managed to change my password and verify my identity and address and report my account being temporarily disabled. Now when I need access more than ever before my account is Blocked. Most of the time my account is not accessible. I am having to use credit cards for air flights and holidays. The questions I’ve been required to answer have had me going back to companies I worked for and left over 50 years ago to speak to the HR Departments and ask them for documentation. Every bank statement and letters from my mother. It really is insanity because once I’m clear they ask for the same things all over again. It’s a roundabout of questions never ever ending. They are so paranoid about being caught out doing something wrong. It makes me wonder what they are up to. I rate it as I do because I hope to keep this information here for you to consider if you want to go through this horror just to own a few Bitcoin.

First let’s start with the positives - their earning tutorials are great, one of the best out there. I’ve personally earned between £80-£100 since starting coinbase some years ago which is great. However, I’ve probably paid close to £1500 in fees so I figure they owe me that anyway. The problem is, when you buy coins they overestimate the value so immediately your funds drop when you buy. Why do this? Then I upgraded to coinbase one, free buying and selling fees i thought great, well worth £20. However when you actually go to sell if you have £100 to sell it’ll become £94 or there abouts even though it’s right there in your GBP wallet. This is just not honest and not acceptable it’s just a big lie. They already charge to sell from btc to gbp so why charge again? You need to sort this out or I’ll just use another company stop lying about fees and just say you will be charged x amount be upfront with your customers we are building your company paying your wages and shareholder bonuses, we are not there to be legally ripped off through deceit. I’d happily pay whatever a fee was if it was shown in black and white before I started but you think you are being clever not being upfront and it’s not the case it just annoys people. Sort it out!

I set up an account on Coinbase back in January, was asked to upload photo ID which I did in the form of my driving license. After 1 month I was still waiting for verification. I sent an email to the support team, days later received an email saying the problem was resolved. It wasn’t. I logged in and clicked on a currency to be met with the he same awaiting verification page. I had enough at this point and was disappointed after hearing only good things about Coinbase. After another 2 months I came back to give it another chance to find it was still awaiting verification. I sent a further email to support again explaining the situation and that I had been told it was resolved a month earlier. I received an email back apologising and saying it would be looked into but they are busy so it may take a while. Then as if to ridicule me, days later I receive an email asking me to rate their support asking “was your issue resolved?”. Obviously not because they have sent me an email saying it will take longer and it still hasn’t been fixed. I apologise for the length of this and it’s the first review I’ve left for an App. I just find it utterly shocking that it can take 4 months so far for a new account to be verified even when photo ID has been sent in. It doesn’t give me a good feeling about the app and makes me wonder what would happen once verified if I had a support issue involving finances, would it take the same amount of time to look into the that too? For now from my personal experience I can only say how disappointing my experience has been and advise other to look elsewhere for a more proactive company. Thanks for reading.
