I’ve used a few different energy apps now and this is by far my favourite. I do have the bud IHD as well and they work brilliantly together but even the app on its own is far superior to others I’ve used. The app alone is free, but I’d definitely recommend buying the bud display for your home too. The app shows live data so it’s enabled me to go from room to room unplugging things and see the drops in live usage to see my power hungry appliances, based on that I’ve replaced my old chest freezer that was really power hungry with a new very efficient one. Thanks ivie.

Not accurate enough

Sorry but I am really struggling with this app. (1) it doesn’t update the figures on a daily basis properly. It just gets stuck. I am finding you only get the day before figures if you delete and re load the app. No there is not a problem with my internet before you ask. (2) I haven’t used any gas for central heating since mid January ‘24, but the app is insisting that virtually all the gas I used in feb and mar was for central heating, and only 1% was for water heating. It is actually 100% water heating only. For April I changed the setting to say “other” for central heating the house, to try and stop it saying I was using gas for heating, BUT it still says I used 75% for central heating and 25% water heating for April. The problem with the app getting this wrong is that in the summer the app is going to expect me to use less central heating, and my “expected” targets will be unachievable as I am already not using any gas for central heating. I cannot reduce the amount of gas I use for water heating, unless I take up cold showers. I appreciate I don’t use a lot of gas compared to other people, but this app just doesn’t appear to be able to differentiate between water and central heating at all.My personal details and tarrif info are all correct on the app as well, so please don’t tell me to update it, it is correct.

This is a great app. The only criticism with it is it doesn’t take to existing smart meters that are manufactured by themselves but given to you by your energy company. You have to buy their own branded version for it to work. However it does link to your energy supplier and takes a day to get the data so it’s still good. Please enable weekly and monthly feature for both electric and gas separately instead of only daily readings for this. And then it will be a five star. And please allow it to work directly from your own smart meters. Buying a new electronic device that’s absolutely identical to your previous fully working device but just worth a firmware update is environmentally irresponsible. Appreciate you need to make money but you could have a small subscription based pro version of your app to make money from it… £5 to £10 a year probably would work.

But if you would like to see your monthly usage and cost of the particular fuel, you would have to do a lot of clicking and maths. Then the expected usage for each day is totally unrealistic. The application expects a family of 3 to use less than 5, sometimes less than 2.5 kWh of gas per day. This would basically mean that we would have to shower in cold water. Forget about baths or washing your dishes in hot water. During the winter it was easier to cut down as there was something to cut from. So yeah, I have moved to applications that show me the usage of particular fuels without unrealistic goals. We are low users comparing to the average UK household but we still want to live fairly normal life.

Forecast will get more accurate with time, because the longer you have the app, the more it learns from your usage.
