Possible Notion Alternative

I have tried several apps in this space having been an Evernote user who migrated to Notion.

Notion is undeniably powerful and although I don’t use its ‘database’ features, its tables are much better than Joplins. However this is mitigated by the fact that like Evernote, Joplin can open spreadsheets in your default app, which in my case is Excel. Notion by contrast is tied to Google Docs, which doesn’t suit me.

Pluses for me:
1. Syncing via my Cloud provider (OneDrive)
2. End to end encryption (a major omission in Notion)
3. Image placement in notes
4. Open Source

I don’t use the Joplin Cloud. I would happily pay for extra features such as publishing to the web etc., but I am holding back because I love the fact that I can sync via OneDrive where I store all my docs. and (maybe I’m wrong but) it looks like I could be limited in doc size.

Overall, it is a likely Notion replacement for my use case although I think converting the notes will be quite an effort. Still that will be an opportunity to tidy things up (again).

Good note app

I’m an Evernote user but wanted to find an alternative note app which lets me encrypt my notes because Evernote doesn’t let users do this, and while looking for an alternative I stumbled across this app.
I have it installed on my iPhone, Samsung tablet and PC and the app syncs my notes with my Dropbox account without issue between my devices.
It allows me to encrypt all my notes and it has even imported all my Evernote notes.
This app maybe doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of Evernote but it’s perfect for my use. Oh and it’s free.

Bug 25 August 2024 - partially fixed

After the recent update, if I click on a note then switched tabs and went back onto Joplin, the whole page blanks out and I have to click the back button and then onto the note once more. This has been happening since the 13.0.7 update Update, 8 November 2024: bug has been partially fixed. Sometimes this bug happens other times, it does not.
