Still Buggy
While for the most part the app works really well, it has a bunch of lingering bugs.
Probably the most persistently annoying is enlarging images; it works the first time, and only the first time, afterwards you have to fully quit Messenger and re-open it before you can enlarge an image again.
I wouldn't normally report something like this in a review, but the other major issue with this app (as with Facebook in general) is that it's almost impossible to report problems; I just can't figure out where I'm supposed to do that, because Facebook do not make it easy to submit a bug report.
great apart from crashing my macbook
I have an m1 macbook air, and this app has worked totally fine. that is, up until i go to send a picture. I *think* what happens is it tries to load my entire photo library or something, but nothing actually comes up to add a photo to my message, and then suddenly the app is using like 30GB of memory?? and my macbook starts lagging terribly until i force quit the app. it's only something i noticed yesterday because up until now i haven't actually wanted to send any pictures on here, i've just done that on my phone because it's easier. sending a picture is such a simple thing, you'd think it wouldn't cause my whole laptop to crash when it's easy on literally every other app and website ever lol. otherwise i like this app, but that's quite a big issue which is very annoying
Broken by update.....March 2023
Well, this app has gone from being an easy to use asset to a complete abomination! Opening the app gives a blank chat area, and although all the chats are saved they are not displayed. You have to search for each one individually then open the one you want. Another annoyance, when you close the app it won't remember the window size. I like to have the window just a bit less than full screen, so I have to adjust it every time I use it. Why oh why do developers change things and spoil - just because they can I suppose. Fortunately I used Time Machine to revert to the old version. If you are using an Apple Mac that is easy to do.
