Not intuitive

This a serious backwards step compared to the old app. Very difficult to navigate. Takes ages to find the membership card which is buried deep within the app. Why can’t the membership card be saved to Apple wallet? Too many error messages and crashes during use. Despite having my local cinema saved in preferences it doesn’t carry this through to booking a movie. You need to be really careful that your preferred cinema is selected. This update could have been an opportunity to correct a problem with the old app in that couples and families should be able to add each other to their accounts to facilitate booking tickets next to each other rather than booking tickets simultaneously on 2 different phones. Updates are supposed to be better!

Well intentioned but still over complicated

On the light of the requirements for Track & Trace, Contactless and to cut down waste paper on tickets I can understand why they needed to make the changes. What does frustrate me is trying to pick film(s) &/or cinema(s) to see & visit in the first place. I like the fact I can see everything that is on a day. I like that tickets are now contained within the app, getting rid of the need to print off at the machines or more annoying still queuing up to get a paper one 🤦‍♀️! Where it falls down is a simple function to select a forthcoming film & set up push alerts for when tickets are on sale. Additionally it would have been useful for Limitless card holders to have the ability to create a digital version of that card within the app rather carry the plastic one as having somewhere to save your gift card codes to use them when the time is right.

Additional: Trying to make a booking for today at the Holloway cinema for 16:45 I was told I should “...wait 2 hours between discounted tickets”. My other booking is at the same cinema exactly two hours later at 18:45, not accounting for adverts & trailers... 🤦‍♀️

Constant issues

I held off on this review because I do like Odeon, I am somewhat sympathetic to production issues and we’ve always had great experiences going to the Odeon. However, I’m a limitless customer but will not be renewing if you can’t sort out the app issues. I am a Software Engineer and I’d be out of a job if I released buggy apps like this. I’d also be quite embarrassed!

Yesterday my partner and I decided to go to the cinema, neither of us could login. We both reset our passwords, and I was able to get in finally but my partner was getting 502’s with an azure hosting error. Now today I’ve tried logging on again, and guess what! Can’t login. This has happened multiple times this year, and unfortunately is frequent enough that we’re definitely not renewing our Limitless. I’m not battling your app Odeon. Fix it and make sure it stays fixed. If your developers can’t put quality control procedures in place ahead of deployments, during deployments and post-deployments, then you need new developers. It’s 2021 and Odeon is not exactly a tiny startup that might explain these types of issues.
