Ratings and Reviews
Pretty primitive in its execution
I was hoping for better but expected this kind of hamfistedness and poor integration. From the way the ‘app’ has to bounce across to different services that are clearly accessed via a pseudo-browser instead of a native app access, through to the fact that screen scaling is poorly implemented (on my iphone 13 the app stretches to the very top of the screen, so the top ‘button options’ are actually behind the phones clock, network and wifi signal and battery indicators).
Whatever the reasons for the lack of polish, this really is not the Welsh NHS moving into the future.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your feedback. We use NHS login as our authentication service as it provides a secure, trusted, single sign-on experience. It is integrated into the app using industry standard technologies. The NHS Wales App is regularly tested on a wide range of mobile devices, but we also welcome feedback via the in-app feedback option in order to continuously improve our user experience.
Good first impressions
I've been using My Health Online for a little while now. At first, it wasn't working at all, but then it started to work well.
Today, I received a note stating that my prescription will now be managed through this app. I must say, I'm pleasantly impressed by the app. It was super easy to log in to my NHS account, and all the information on the app was accurate and clearly presented.
My only complaint would be the overall aesthetics of the NHS Welsh stuff in the app; it could be better, i.e, some of the pop up parts required you to scroll and the ‘continue’ button wasn’t visible at first (a minor issue really). However, it serves its purpose and is easy to read and navigate. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.
OK, but needs just a little more work
I was using the web portal to order repeat prescriptions (I don't like leaving it in the hands of the pharmacy), but that meant remembering a user name and password each time. I hoped the app would be more convenient and tied to fingerprint recognition, and it is, so that's a box ticked.
Where it falls down is having to re-accept cookies and T&Cs each time, surely there's no need for that? Having accepted them the first time, I see no reason to have to keep re-accepting them for the same app installed on the same device.
When submitting a prescription request, there is nowhere recording my usual collection point. There was on the web portal, and I presume the GP records already have it, but it would be useful confirmation if that appeared in the app (with the option to change it if necessary). The is a notes field, but that is a one-way process (submit, but no reporting of existing notes).
I have yet to request an appointment through the app, so there may be a future update to this review.
