App control is great…! Wish there was more functionality

I have a Daikin heat pump supplying 5 indoor units. It is great that I can control the units from my phone. I literally never touched the supplied remote control. The convenience of setting up schedules is great. However there are only 3 custom schedules one can do. I wish there at least five, so that I can customise a schedule in each room. The ability to control the units for the phone from anywhere in the world is great. I get units switched on 10 min before I get home so that I come to home which is at the right temperature. However, I wish there was a quick home/ away toggle. So that I can switch ofl all schedules with one flick of a button when I go away and switch it back on similarly when I come back. Daikin please note and add these features please!

You can use the app to set the thermostat, both locally and remotely (though it sometimes has no effect) and it’s easier to edit the schedules on the app. That’s about it. It tells you it’s heating even when the ASHP isn’t active and it tells you what the inside and outside temperature is. Do you want to know how efficiently it’s running? Sorry, you have to go to the controller for that, and even then you have to do the calculations manually, and monitor it constantly to see if the outside unit is cycling. Do you want to edit the Weather Dependent settings to tweak. Your heating settings? Sorry, you have to go to the controller for that. Do you want to check the flow temperature? Sorry, you have to go to the controller for that. Do you want to increase the flow temperature because the house is cold? -guess what… There’s a lot of screen real estate being used for not much benefit. It’s actually easier and more functional to use the controller. This app needs some serious thought, investment, and development.

After setting up, this app is fairly responsive and allows for direct control of my 5-head multi-split A2A heat pump. All features of the units are available thru the app, but not very well explained. The schedule control is fiddly and confusing to set up and edit, and it’s missing HomeKit integration so there’s no other way to automate operation. But the “insights” data visualisations are great (I’d love access to the underlying data) and as a central place for checking all units in an easy to see screen with simple controls for on/off and temp up/down, it works really well.

My 5 unit system was installed in July, 2023. The controller has failed to operate from the beginning. Switch a unit on and it takes minutes before it activates. The aircon fails in the night because the Wi-Fi is reported as offline. It is not. It is the controller. Worse, I began downloading the Daikin update for this app at 5pm, yesterday. It’s gone 6 pm over 24 hours later and my whole system is still locked, all five aircon units are unusable. I cannot use the remote hand control too as this is locked out. I had to remove ONECTA from my iPad and from my mobile. Several times I’ve tried reinstalling ONECTA with the same lock and whole system failure. I’ve been at home for the last few days ill and no aircon. I contacted Daikin yesterday but have not received an acknowledgment or a response. There is a stock notice on reloading attempted on their website stating they are aware of an issue. Over 24 hours to resolve a corrupted gateway and roll back until software resolution is unacceptable.
