You need to pair your hearing aids with this app to use it to control your hearing aids.

App availability:
The app is compatible with most hearing aid models. If you have hearing aids from 2016-2018 and haven't updated them yet, a hearing aid update is required for this app to work. We recommend regular hearing aid updates during your routine check-up with your hearing care professional.

At last, it’s working!

Version 1.3.0 connects fairly reliably, much better than 1.2.2 which was dire. Thank-you. For me and my Oticon Engages HAs I’m not sure what benefits it offers me over the controls available on the iPhone - which are easier to access. My HAs are not rechargeable, the equaliser is absent and I don’t have remote sessions with my audiologist. The only thing I might use is the “find my hearing aids” function. I guess it’s worth keeping, just for that.

Dear Jerry, thank you for updating your app store review! We are glad to hear that the update made such a difference! Be assured that new features are in the pipeline and that our developers are working hard to make the app even more reliable and useful. Kind regards, Oticon.

Oticon app

I have been having problems with my left hearing aid, which is one that fits to the shape of the inside of my left ear. This is the second time it has happened more recently. Although it says it’s connected to the app and the hearing aid in settings, it is so low in volume that it isn’t really working. In settings and on the app, it says that the volume is up to around 70. I have tried resetting it via the app and in settings, but it hasn’t made any difference and now the right hearing aid has disconnected and I can’t get it to connect, although the hearing aid works and I can alter the volume manually. I contacted the admin previously and got nowhere. I told them before that the system worked better on the previous app. I don’t know why they changed to another app because it doesn’t work as well. I can’t understand why that is. You’d have thought that it would be better

Dear user, as a first step, you need to make sure that wax is not obstructing the filter.

There is an in-depth guide on the Oticon website with many instructions and tips to clean your hearing aids.
Here is how to clean the hearing aids: https://www.oticon.com/support/how-to/use-and-care/clean-hearing-aid

and here is how to change the wax filter: https://www.oticon.com/support/how-to/use-and-care/change-wax-filters/how-to-change-wax-filter-bte.

We hope it helps! If not, please inform your audiologist about the issue that you are experiencing. Regarding the connection of the hearing aids to the app, you can establish your pairing in the Accessibility menu: 1) Go to phone settings and choose "Accessibility" 2) Choose "Hearing Devices" 3) Click the tab at the top (it should have the name of your hearing aids - if not please restart your hearing aids to put them into pairing mode) 4) Pair your hearing aids by clicking on "Pair" in the pop-up, usually two times 5) Keep the Hearing Aids near the phone when pairing. If you have paired your Hearing Aids to the iPhone before, you might have to "Forget this device" after point 3. Kind Regards, Oticon

Not worth the effort

I recently replaced my oticon hearing aids and was told by the specialist that the version of aid I now have will link to my iPhone via Bluetooth. This was set up for me by the audiologist. I found that next day connection to both aids had failed. I reset but now find that the aids require resetting every morning and either one aid or both will drop out during the day. The phone rings and I am lucky if one of the aids is connected. I have now deleted the app and rely on the iPhone loudspeaker for calls. Very disappointing, if oticon cannot do better than this then they should not advertise this service as a selling point for the aids

Developer Response ,

Dear Chiro5Chiro5, we are doing everything we can to make the Oticon Companion app reconnect faster and stay connected in the background for longer, we are hoping to be able to implement improvements in upcoming app updates. Meanwhile, you can tap three times on the power button on the side of your iPhone (or press the 'Home' button at the bottom of your iPhone if your iPhone model has this) to enter a quick hearing aids settings menu that allows you to make volume adjustments and change programs. This can also be done from your phones lock screen. Best Regards, Oticon
