Internal Exposure: Train your mind to not be afraid of certain internal bodily sensations that you may associate with an imminent panic attack.
External Exposure: Train your mind to not fear certain external situations or activities that you may avoid out of fear of having a panic attack there.

Misleading, “exposure therapy” text
The paragraph beginning “to break this fear” is wrong. There can NOT be this all or nothing thinking. It should read; “its okay to try and not stay long the first time. If you keep trying again you will gradually make progress.”
The patient should be encouraged as having made some progress, not none! This way of thinking will likely cause the patient to feel like they fsiled nust because they became overwhelmed. To feel overwhelmed is normal. Please edit this segment in EXTERNAL EXPOSURE to ensure that patients know they are not expected to conquer this fast just because you may think they should.
The patient needs to face it when they feel strong enough to cope with the inevitable anxiety it brings.
Only a patient can choose this, and when to stay longer. Otherwise it is like being held captive and that will NOT help any recovery to begin, in fact it is likely to do more harm.
I am a student of trauma, psychology and Schema Therapy, currently researching and writing a report for distribution, to help staff in related medical and psychology industries understand how this manifests so that help is better tailored to suit a patient, not an over enthused and unrealistic practitioner.
