Frustrating niggles make the app annoying.
If the school offers parents evening on 2 dates and you book an appointment on one date it constantly shows a notification that you need to book an appointment. The app thinks you need an appointment on both dates. The constant notification is annoying. Other reviewers have commented this is the same for forms that you don't need to respond to because you aren't taking up the event offered. Even if you move the item to the archive the notification persists.
The second frustration is that despite having the app and having push notifications there is no way to turn off emails or SMS. Consequently I get a summary email everyday that something has been sent to the app - even though I have read it in the app. I get an SMS and this is then duplicated in the app as a new notification.
ParentMail need to sort it out so that items in the archive don't generate notifications and have a way to turn off emails and SMS if you are receiving push notifications from the app.

I find the app helpful
I enjoy using the app and find it keeps me informed about the activities going on in my child’s school, as well as enabling me to receive text messages through the app and also giving me the option to star/flag an item so I am able to locate or refer to it more easily later.
I haven’t yet tested out all the features of the app, as my child’s school is still rolling out more features step by step in consultation with parents/carers/guardians, so as to have a smooth transition. Thanks for reading & thanks also for the developers in seeking to make the app better and NOT changing any part of the app just for the sake of change.

Important announcement irritation
When I open the app I want to get to the information I want as quickly as possible. Since the redesign, almost every time I open the app there is a piece of app related news waiting for me, which I then have to click on ‘don’t show me again’ and then click OK to move on. GIVE ME THE CHOICE, let me turn this stuff off if I don’t want it, don’t force it on me - you think it’s important, I don’t
Sooo the developer wrote to say that they only use the announcements to advise of important things such as planned downtime etc. and yet we still get messages like “Need help with ParentMail? We update the help site regularly, so make sure you visit to find the answer to your query quickly and easily!”
I’m sorry but this is NOT important news and I again have to click on the “don’t show me again” button before I can move on. Either give me the ability to turn it off OR make it passive like a small message box at the bottom of the screen that allows me to still do what I want to do I can read it or ignore it if I choose - unobtrusive passive messages are much better

Hi there! The notification is to alert parents to important news and information - this may be about the App itself, important news regarding system updates and system downtime or support info. However, we understand parents may not wish to see this message more than once and can choose to click not to see the message again - when clicked, this message won't appear again until a new message is posted. Keeping parents up to date with important information is important to us and we take care to share only the most important messages with you.
