Use your iPhone as a step counter. Pedometer++ lets you easily keep track of your daily and weekly step counts, without any impact on your battery life. You can view your progress each day from either the iPhone app, Today View widget or Apple Watch app.
App Store App of the Day
iMore.com's iOS Health & Fitness App of the Year.
For best results make sure that you keep your iPhone on you as you move throughout the day, ideally in a trouser pocket close to your hips.
Pedometer++ integrates with the Health app in order to collect and display data collected by your Apple Watch. It can display your step count, walking distance, active calories and heart rate data.
Fixes a bug where the widget's goal value doesn't match the main app.

Keep it simple
The app is fantastic! A really good use of streamlined simplistic features. It’s a pedometer and they haven’t tried to be more than that. They haven’t gone overboard. All the information you could possibly need is right on one screen and is easy to read and understand. The app is a fantastic motivator and it’s simple badge system does a good job in making you realise the work you’ve done, and creates a feeling of self reward without showering you with praise. The controls are easy and simple too.
Overall, a great app to start off the road to healthy habits with. I would say it’s a great thing to have for anyone, wether you be an ordinary office worker trying to get in some exercise on your break or a real fitness pro. It’s all stepping stones, and this a great foundation for a healthier lifestyle!
Adds the functionality apple refuse to add
I like my apple watch. It does a whole range of tasks. Pays my shopping, tracks my heart rate through the day, tracks work outs, apparently it even tells the time. However the one bit of data my watch is tracking already which I'd like to know without diving into my phone is my step count.
Previously it was buried in the health app on my iPhone. That's what brought me to Pedometer ++. I can't really rate the app on my phone, other than setting it up I've ignored it and that was my experience of it, that's not where this app is useful. However on my watch is where it shines. Tracks my steps and distance elegantly.
However I do have a complaint you'll walk and walk, and the display doesn't update on your watch, greatest lapse so far is almost 5 hours before I tapped on my watch to update. It'd be nice if it dynamically updated every so often (maybe every 15 mins). Only after you tap on it do you get the latest update and the information relayed to the relevant complication. Otherwise great watch app.
This going on in the background and you just look at it one day. You then realise how little you are moving around. It gives you the wake up call you needed to make a change to your health regime or lack of it. Or you use it to help you keep an eye on how much exercise you are getting on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. It's really imperative that you knew how much you are moving around. It could be the difference between life and death. Covid 19 affects the overweight more than it does average or slim people. You don't want to make any more difficult to fight than it already is. Have you seen the way it affects people in hospital. Fighting for breath doesn't look very pleasant let me tell you. I know it feels like you are drowning. Not nice.
