Get it in your basket

I’ve struggled with hair growth since my early teens and was considering getting laser hair removal on my face as I just didn’t feel like a woman anymore till my sister in law got this and recommended I love it so much I’ve literally done everywhere and most of my dark hair is gone or grows very slowly my daughter has the same problem so when she is old enough I will be getting one for her to save her going through all the waxing and epilating I would recommend save your self the torture stick to the app you can add treatments on to the end if you have missed a few spots and still have some hair growth get it in you basket you will not regret it

No flexibility to edit dates makes it hard to follow treatment plan

Lumea is great, but the app itself is soo frustrating to use. Even though you can now “backdate” the most recent treatment, you still can’t edit any previous entries, even if they are wrong! This means that all future dates get moved and I’m less likely to stick to my schedule, since the day I’m now supposed to touch up is not convenient i.e. not on the weekend when I have time. And it baffles me why changing the treatment window can only be applied after you finish the NEXT treatment? This is very unhelpful as sometimes I can see hairs already growing back and want to shorten the window, or conversely that hairs are slower to regrow and therefore can go longer between touch ups.

In all, the lack of flexibility editing dates in the app mean that it’s not useful for sustaining a effective treatment plan. It’s a shame as I really liked having all my dates/reminders in one place and found filtering by body part helpful too. But if you need a plan you can manually adjust then you’re better off using calendar reminders. Hopefully Philips can address these issues in future.

Needs refining

I’ve had a Lumea for over 5 years but only recently started using the app when my old device became faulty and was replaced by Philips.

The reminders and having a treatment schedule prepared are very useful features, but that’s where it ends. Running through the tutorial each treatment is tiresome.

My main complaint is that you can’t manually adjust when you’ve recorded a treatment. Realistically I’m never going to have the app open and record as I go, and I’m likely to record the treatment a day or two later when I remember. Because you can only record a treatment on the current date, if you forget and go back in a day later, the app will record the treatment as being carried out a day late and push back the treatment schedule a day. So now even though I know my next treatment is in 13 days, the app won’t let me record another for 14 days. I either have to keep remembering it’s a day off, or change my treatment day (which isn’t convenient, I chose a day of the week when I’d have time for treatments).

So it looks like I’m back to setting up my own calendar reminder like I used to before the app in the end.

I’d like to see two new features -

- a “when did you do your treatment” option. Even if this was set to go back a day or two it would be useful.
- the ability to turn off the tutorial when recording a treatment and basically just record when you did it, what setting was used and how it felt.

Developer Response ,

Due to popular request, we’ve added a long-awaited new feature. Now you can report completed treatments retrospectively. So, if you forget to mark it done on the day of treatment you can also do it later. Don’t miss out! Download the latest version now.
