Ratings and Reviews
Download it, but only for a rough guide
As much as I’d love to feed this back directly to Nexus about their truly awful Metro service, we can only assume that any related apps or customer service can be equally as poor as the physical standard of trains.
You check the app, it states the next trains, e.g in 10 mins. You get to the station 5 mins later, and the station tells you completely different times and that you should check the pop app. Only for trains to turn up at a time not stated by either the station or the app. So, it gets 2 stars for being a rough guide, not dissimilar to printing a timetable and keeping it in your wallet. It does little else. You can scan your pop card, but can’t manage it nor top it up.
Twitter, in my opinion, is the better source of updates to disruption.
Please keep trying to incorporate apple pay
First I will say it’s nifty to have up to date time tables on my phone so kudos on that part, and the new rating update seems like a useful addition. But please add options for buying tickets & topping up pop cards. I understand apple are more rigorous when it comes to iOS apps but it’s so useless to have a metro app I can’t buy tickets on. Not to mention I can’t top up my Pop card/see my balance easily which isn’t even an Apple Pay issue. Try to integrate more personalised information for users this would take a 2 star app to a 4-5 star app.
UPDATE: 1 star app, this app is dysfunctional at best and the fact they still don’t have a way to add Pop to Apple wallet after four years is a joke. Nexus won’t read this or care because they have the worst trains in England already. If anything at least it’s motivated me to get a drivers license. 0/5 do not recommend.
Has use but flawed
Despite being called POP, the one thing you can’t do is create a virtual POP card and load it into your Apple wallet.
You can check your POP card balance. There is a map, train updates etc.
Having recently used the TAP card in Los Angeles this app is far less functional. It’s not integrated to bus services. It doesn’t really live up to London’s Oyster card.
The North East has waited a long time for simple integrated ticketing and travel. This isn’t it.
Limited. Does some useful stuff. By metropolitan transportation standards it’s a weak offer.
