IMPORTANT: This application will only allow you to report faults and damage to the distribution networks managed by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, and view power cuts in the same areas. If you are outside these areas, the app will ask you to call 105 the national power cut number, or you can contact your energy distributor for information.
We aim to keep our mapping system as up to date as possible.
You can report to us, and receive updates from us, on power cuts and other issues with your power supply, as well as any damage to network assets that you may see.
You are guided through the reporting process, and advised on what information is required on the way. In damage reports a photo is asked for, as this provides much more information more quickly than completing text.
At the end you will be provided with a reference code which can be used if you need to call us about the fault or damage.

You are also able to view all the current power cuts within the Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks areas.

Information available includes:

Fault reference number
Emergency service centre number to call for more information or to report other power cuts.
Areas affected by the network faults (by post code)*
Time the power went off
Time the next status update is due*
Time an engineer is expected to arrive*
Time the fault should be fixed*

*Where available

The app displays pins on a map overlay showing areas affected by current power cuts. Tapping on this pin gives you a link to more information about the problem. Power Track also provides a summary list of reported power cuts.
Customers can register (and subsequently un-register) to receive automatic updates on any current power cut(s). These updates include:

Time the next status update is due*
Time an engineer is expected to arrive*
Time the fault is expected to be fixed*
Confirmation that the fault has been resolved*

*When available

Note: When the fault has been resolved it will no longer be visible on Power Track and the Push Notifications will no longer link to the fault.

In normal circumstances each reported power cut will be represented on the UK map by an individual pin. Where we have a number of concurrent power cuts in a particular area a merged pin will be displayed in the centre of the affected region. When a customer zooms into this region of the map the merged pin will split out into the individual fault pins.

There may be situations when severe weather conditions occur, which affects a large part of our network area(s).
In these situations Power Track will provide an update for the whole affected area rather than for individual faults.

What’s New

Useful in a power cut

Good way of seeing if a power cut effecting your property is known about by SSE and to track their progress at sorting it out. Works on your phone when everything else at home needing electricity has stopped!

Works OK on my iPad

Declare my interest as my original idea. Installed and working fine. I am running an older version - MAC OS 9.3.5. App loads all outages as it's supposed to. Scroll in and click on red pin to see outage postcode(s). Used today as storm weather. Shame only covers SSE Distribution area (South England & Northern Scotland) and not been taken up by other distribution companies.

Dreadful ‘upgrade’

The latest upgrade to this app. is awful, the map is too small and difficult to zoom so you can easily see the affected area, the previous version was much better.

Make the map more user friendly and you will get more stars from me.
