New and “improved”

Not keen on the newest version, it’s a pain having to wait for the NS&I logo to finish doing its little dance when all I want to do is check how many days are left to the next draw. The old version just showed that detail immediately. The names of the people who’s account you have saved on there are also far too small, size 8 font or less. Come on NS&I, if you’re going to make changes at least improve things not make them less user friendly. And sort out a real app for purchasing bonds etc, how long can it take??

As other reviewers point out, all this app aspires to do is check if you've won a prize – something you'd only need to do if you (a) think NS&I wouldn't automatically tell you about a win(b) you found some old Premium Bond details that predate your last house move/email address change and therefore think NS&I might have sent the automatic notice to an old address.(c) you are insanely optimistic and think the Fickle Finger of Fate has increased the randomisation factor on the selection of Premium Bond winners to the point where non-bond holders can win prizes.Other than that, it's just taking up space on your device, which is a shame because the NS&I website is such a great example of a site with the combination of minimum necessary functionality and strong security capability that it's hard to believe this app comes from the same organisation.

More helpful than trying to phone

Somehow locked myself out of my account over 3 months ago. My attempts for help over the phone prove to me that I know more than the people that answer the phone. I am still not back on. I am not UK based which means my password is caught up in the COVID/Brexit mail backlog. When I wailed that I knew I had won (from the emails) but could not find out how much, they could have easily told me to use this app. It is great, does not help me access my money but it tells me what I have won. I only have a couple of £25 prizes - but at least it means I am not dreaming of my unknown thousands.

Yes you can just go to the NS&I website and put in your holder number. But the app does the job. Set it up in under 2 minutes for me and my mum. I knew I had won £50 this month (2x£25) and app showed correct amounts. Also showing correct amounts for previous 6 months. Gives you a countdown until next prize draw.I think using a pin is overkill as all it does is tell you what you have won just like website rather than any personal info or account details.If you have premium bonds then this app is a bit more convenient in my opinion.
