Description

This is the 'Future of Spelling' - Sir Linkalot’s award-winning app improves spelling for children of all ages and ability.

With hundreds of spelling animations and ‘links’ to help you learn them, the app is perfect for boosting school lessons, assisting home schooling and hitting UK national curriculum SPAG criteria (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar).

The app is suitable for students of 4+ years with words grouped into varying difficulty levels.

Challenge yourself with the app’s multiple-choice test and crossword challenges and keep track of your scores as you improve. Students using the Sir Linkalot app typically improve their spelling scores by 70%, with a 150% improvement for those who find learning tricky.

The app is divided into the five key elements of literacy: spelling, homophones, rules & patterns, punctuation & grammar and etymology (origin of words). These are categorised into ‘bundles’ with each based on a renowned literary figure. We’re always adding more bundles to the app to further your spelling knowledge.

Sir Linkalot’s partner-in-crime, Lady Lexicographer (aka TV’s Susie Dent), whose favourite book is the dictionary, will reveal the origin of certain words on the app that have an interesting story to tell including prefixes.

“Sir Linkalot is a fascinating and fun means of memorizing and visualizing words” – Skillswise, BBC

“It makes spelling fun. I see the animations when I write the words.”
– 10 year old child with ASD & ADHD

“Brilliant. I can now spell diarrhoea!''
– Sir Paul McCartney

10/10 for Engagement and Results

This is by far the best app we have downloaded to use for home schooling. Will definitely buy a subscription afterwards. The boy child LOVES doing it and will choose it over all other activities. He loves the animations and remembers then straight away. We did a spelling test at the end of the first week and he got 59/60. At school, he would get about 2/10. It is also easy for me and he can work independently but then I get jealous with him laughing at all the fun animations and so I have to come and watch it too! Even the teenager is interested (although she pretends she’s not)! Who knew spelling could be so much fun!?

THANK YOU 🙌🏻

If any parent is reading this review and wondering whether to give this app a go.... DO! I am in no way connected to this app so it’s an entirely impartial review. I feel incredibly grateful that it was made free to access during this time of schooling from home. My 8 year old twins and 5 year old (and even my 2yr old!) love it... the humour is spot on but it doesn’t ‘dumb down’ as the Susie Lexicographer snippets are brilliant and Sir Linklalot also uses lots of factual stuff eg. geography in his links. I really enjoy doing it with them and learning too! I hope you love it as much as we do!

Awesome and very educational but also some bad parts 😢

Sir Linkalot is very good for learning spellings and words you need to know by the age of 17. It’s awesome videos make sure you understand the word and meaning of it too, the videos are funny 😂 and good for kids I’m 9 and love it so much! 💓 The only bad thing is when you do a cross word, it goes all rubbish and you can’t type in the right boxes 📦 also in tests when you get a word right sometimes it says it’s wrong, once I thought I got it wrong because it said it was so I showed it to my mum and said “Oh I only got 19 out of 20 😭!” She said “Hang on you got them all right this app is wrong!” So that is my review thanks for reading 😊

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the review; much appreciated. Would you mind sending an email
to sirlinkalot@sirlinkalot.org about your two queries as these need to
be looked in to? We pride ourselves on the app matching the quality of
the videos of which we are very proud. So we'd like to take a look to solve any problems you're experiencing.
