Smartcharge 4+

One of the worst apps I've never used! Yes, i meant to say never! Had my Homecharge unit installed this week which in itself was a serious challenge dealing with BP (if it wasn't a free unit I’d have gone elsewhere). Was told by the engineer to download the app and use all these great functions. So i download the app and am immediately prompted with a login screen.... but no sign up option?? Nowhere on this screen can i actually sign up to the service. I tried googling.... no joy there either. So i go back in to the app believing it cant be this hard and maybe im the on at fault, did i create an account at some point? I select forgot password and enter my email and the app says “success” and to reset through the email that will be sent to me. No email is ever received. Now, as others have reported, the app is incapable of remaining stable, keyboard wont work and it will only accept pasting in to the login fields. After coming back on the app store and reading some reviews i have just decided to leave it. Seriously BP, where are your developers???

Like many other reviews, I’ve had a nightmare with BP over this app and their appalling customer service. After installation of the home charging unit, it was recommended to download the Smartcharge app. I did this, but the app has never worked, never letting me login. So began over 6 weeks trying to get some sort of response or solution from the ‘HeretoHelp’ customer service team. It feels like they haven’t got a clue what’s going on and it’s just feeble excuse after excuse that is given as a response. Too add to this, I now can’t access my account via the homecharge website either and this has happened on a few occasions now. Again, no solution being offered by the customer service team. For a big company like BP, this should be embarrassing. Reading the other reviews, it looks like a shocking level of underinvestment in their app development, website and customer service. At the moment, I wish I’d never had a BP charge unit installed.

You would like to think that the multi Billion Pound company BP would have had the home EV Charging sector at the top of the their priorities considering the way the car market is supposedly shifting, BUT think again! The App is extremely sub standard and full of glitches. I set up a Charging Schedule and it was working fine, but as soon as I tried to disable the schedule to charge the vehicle outside of this it just didn’t respond? It would appear the App does not communicate with the Sim Card in the wall box? All in all a very poor situation and one that BP PULSE should be addressing urgently! I do not understand why so many Car Dealerships are partnering with BP Pulse as it’s EV PARTNER? It makes absolutely no sense when the Product & App are just so temperamental and not really in my opinion fit for purpose. Refuse to have BP PULSE as your home EV CHARGER if your car dealership recommends. Do no make the mistake so many others have!!
