Perfect! User friendly and no booking fees
No booking fee scam on this app. What really irritates me are booking fees and this app doesn't charge any.
Apart from that it's easy to use quick to book and you can use apple pay to buy. And you can track your train as well!
Why more could you want?
TLDR: 5 stars to 1 star with loss of live times
This was my preferred app for train info & tickets for years. Easy to use, accurate, I recommended to everyone: a true 5 star app….
However, the recent update that ‘lost’ the live times option has drastically changed my opinion: without live train information it is no longer fit for purpose. To add insult to injury, the app info in the App Store still claims that you have access to live train times and ‘real time’ travel information, when you now palpably don’t!
For fans of the older version all is not lost, as at the time of writing this, the Northern Rail app still has the live times function and looks & feels similar to the old version of this app. I used it this weekend and it was a painless experience: the live information available meant I was able to plan ‘on the fly’ when power supply issues affected my route.
Better than others
This is my go-to Train company app for buying train tickets in the UK. Once set it is so much quicker and easier than others, and I like that I can pay via Apple Pay and put the tickets in my Wallet on the phone.
