Description
The Virtual Hope Box (VHB) is a smartphone application designed for use by patients and their behavioral health providers as an accessory to treatment. The VHB contains simple tools to help patients with coping, relaxation, distraction, and positive thinking. Patients and providers can work together to personalize the VHB content on the patient's own smartphone according to the patient's specific needs. The patient can then use the VHB away from clinic, continuing to add or change content as needed.
Patients can use the VHB to store a variety of rich multimedia content that they find personally supportive in times of need. For example, a patient can include family photos, videos and recorded messages from loved ones, inspirational quotes, music they find especially soothing, reminders of previous successes, positive life experiences and future aspirations, and affirmations of their worth in their VHB. A patient can also collaborate with their provider to create coping cards to use in response to personal problem areas they experience. Finally, the VHB provides the patient with positive activity planning, distraction tools, and interactive relaxation exercises including guided imagery, controlled breathing and muscle relaxation.

Ratings and Reviews
From a clinical psychologist
My go-to app for folks with anxiety and stress since it has a bit of everything. Interestingly, because this app was created by the VA, my male patients seem to be more amenable to it.
From a UK Vet ☺️
Thank you so much for making this App. I was diagnosed with having Chronic PTSD and I am being treated by “Combat Stress” in UK. I use this App daily to help me cope and build ‘Coping Cards’ and the ‘Distract me’ when I start to get tense or agitated. It fits in perfectly with my treatment and my Dr. Assists me in forming my coping cards so I can use them in the future.
Without something like this (on my phone or iPad) I would have struggled to cope on many occasions whilst I was out with my family. Please tell the UK Military about this App and any other Apps or Programs you may have that can help us Vets who are suffering daily with the very difficult mental condition of PTSD
OMG - literally a LIFE saver! :)
This is the best app in the world. It’s helping me out no end. I have been struggling a lot lately after losing my mum. This app is like having my mum hug me all over again even-though she is no longer here! The comfort is insane.
Download the app as it has different techniques like coping with stress, how to relax, distraction games a place where you can store pictures and videos to remind you of good times eg with your loved ones and much much more! This app speaks for itself and it’s the kind of to explain. Download this app and I promise you will wonder what you ever did without it!
All the best
Lorraine Francis ;)
