The Yellow Card Scheme is the UK system run by the MHRA* for collecting and monitoring information on suspected adverse reactions to all medicines including vaccines, blood factors and immunoglobulins, herbal medicines and homeopathic remedies, and all medical devices available on the UK market.
The Yellow Card app has been developed for medicines and allows users to:
> Report a suspected side effect to a medicine (including vaccines, herbal products and homeopathic remedies)
> Track new safety information published by the MHRA about medicines
> Create a watchlist for alerts to medicines of interest to you
> View numbers of reports received by the MHRA to medicines and vaccines
Suspected problems or incidents involving medical devices, defective medicines, suspected counterfeits or fake medicines can also be reported to the MHRA via the Yellow Card website at http://www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. All reports received through the app or website can help the MHRA identify potential new concerns about a medicine or medical device and act as an early warning for further investigation. The MHRA will review the product if necessary, and take action to minimise risk and maximise benefit to the patients.
*The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is the executive Agency of the Department of Health and Social Care; the MHRA protects and promotes public health and patient safety by ensuring that medicines, healthcare products and medical equipment are used safely and meet appropriate standards of safety, quality, performance and effectiveness.
Thank you for continuing to support patient safety with the Yellow Card app. This update improves general performance and allows us to bring you new features in the future. Please send us your feedback to constantly improve the app.

Had AstraZeneca vaccine on 3rd Feb, gloating that I had no side effects then on the 4th day I had the most horrendous palpitations felt in my chest and stomach every day for 14 days lasting around 8 hours a day, every day I thought I was going to have a heart attack,I was so frightened I had several panic attacks even at 1.30 in the morning! The last 2 days they are now settling down to just light flutters throughout the day. What I want to know is, will the second dose give me the same (or worse) as I have been told.I have read on the internet of others having exactly the same symptoms and they too are frightened of having the second dose. I would love to have my second jab but I certainly will not be able to cope with this again so I don’t think I will be going for my second jab! I am a 79 year old female who was otherwise in good health! I need an honest answer!!
No government communications reported side effect of severe headaches , high fever and neck pain following COVID vaccine . Would you be using same vaccine for second injection with same side effect .
My autistic son is having injection on Tuesday , is he likely to have same side effect as mine . Do you realise what it is like for somebody who don’t understand the world to have similar side effect .
The government is so fast to use first vaccine that falls in its lap without proper research . Was it a Randomised controlled trial or thank God we have a vaccine and we ll buy millions of it
Happy to have the service!
