As you know, this is an app for watching videos, shorts, seeing posts, social media-like content. And in social media, there is something called the algorithm, now this algorithm you must be careful of it, for one wrong move, one wrong video you watch, and you will be spammed with content you dislike or is entirely inappropriate. I suggest you use the search bar at first download, and search for specific content and keywords and only watch those instead of scrolling on shorts immediately, this gives the algorithm time to understand the kind of content you would appreciate being given. Then you can scroll. I also highly recommend STAYING AWAY FROM SHORTS. Now, I’m a child, and I sound like a good old buzzkill dont I? But, realistically, parent, teacher, student, child or just a general human being, you need a longer attention span to get through things in life. Watching shorts shortens your attention span, but I don’t mean the one off meme, I mean scrolling for around 10+ shorts everytime you open the app.Parents, carers and guardians, I sincerely recommend this app so long as you know what your child is watching on it. When I’m watching a video and it’s pretty much finished and they’re either talking about a sponsor, there’s music playing with links to there other videos or they’re reminding us to subscribe if we don’t want to miss all their latest videos, I’ll drag it down to the bottom of the screen and begin scrolling down to find my next video. The new(ish) carousel type feature, that shows you ‘more videos like this’ doesn’t allow you to scroll while it loads which only takes half a second or so but i can’t scroll for one or two attempts and it’s incredibly frustrating. Most of the time because if there are related videos I want to watch I will have seen them in the list beneath the video before reaching the comments so the carousel never really interests me anyway and I want to see what other videos are available. You should either be able to turn the feature off and get rid of it (preferred) or be able to scroll the instant a video is dragged down to make it smaller. Also maybe it would be good to have a feature that refreshes all the videos on the home screen too. Because usually the same videos appear for a week or so even if I’m not that interested. And I fear clicking “not interested” to get rid of them because I might be interested in the topic but not THAT video and don’t want it to get rid of other similar videos. Sometimes I’ve already seen a particular video in the past - so I am interested, I just don’t want to watch it again. Everything else is great though.

There’s some really great videos on utube. Utube is so useful for specific projects and info I can safely say it’s been a life changer for the good. Big thank you to utube and the people that give great info. In my case diy things beyond my experience it has allowed me to tackle new tasks with confidence. Many just interesting videos also eg on art, travel, walks, insights and many very entertaining videos that have made me laugh which is highly beneficial to one’s health. Unfortunately there is a lot if low quality videos also, some being great time wasters and you can’t tell till you’ve given it 2 to 5 minutes or more to find its not really going to be of much use or interest. I use the like /dislike and subscriptions to help improve the feed but still get videos suggested that look interesting and useful that are extremely poor in content, presentation and sometimes seemingly with no thought at all about the viewer. Why can’t such ultra poor videos stop appearing in my suggested videos and in the case of searches be do low down they are more pages and scrolls away than I will ever get to. Maybe too many people are pressing like on complete rubbish. Partly separate and sometimes overlapping this point is the fact that too many videos are far too long for what’s contained in them. Some of this is just spanning it out to get more adverts in, in other cases the presenter is badly organised and showing irrelevant setting up detail or giving long intros with a lot of irrelevance, often a lot of repetition.
