AIB Authenticator 4+

Can’t use card online without this ap but the ap just refuses to work. First it would log me in for a split second and then “something went wrong call…. Log out” then we tried to call but we’re on hold for an hour with no response. Eventually we gave up. After a while I gave it a shot realised if I press “manage account” before it goes into error it works so I confirmed email and confirmed phone then try to add card and ofcourse can’t. Tried add 2 cards twice and each time “oops something went wrong” it’s an honest joke. This is our business account and we can’t purchase anything so the company is being held back I had to end up using my personal bank of Ireland card to pay and transferring money from the business account to my own which will now get a little messy with the accounts. Please either fix the ap or just get rid of it the 2 step authentication is more than enough stop complicating things.

This is a complete waste of time! After receiving letter from bank advising me to download App or else I won’t be able to use my card for online purchases I downloaded app and it forced me to ring for Help. Helpful chap at end of phone admitted app is useless and tried to help. 40 mins later we are both stuck as screen won’t allow you to go any further. In fairness he rang back next day asking what iPhone (8) I was using as he had others with same issue. Still waiting for a fix. Unable to use card online or app. Stupid situation from AIB to allow this to happen. Scrap this 2nd Authenticator rubbish until it’s sorted properly and allow customers to carry on as normal and not waste their time on AIB’s problem that they created!!

This app is so bad that it has to be a deliberate attempt by AIB to stop online purchases coming up to Christmas to reduce the potential risk to them. It’s bad enough that the AIB app only works intermittently due to technical faults - but this app insists you align your purchases to one of three countries only; and then insists you upload details of a BUSINESS credit card to proceed. Which if you don’t have (and it’s not even their business account app!) .. you are not allowed to proceed. I have wasted 30 minutes and eventually gave up. I have had to use my husbands credit card and account to buy his Christmas present. AIB are a pathetic excuse for a modern bank.
