Powerful, sad but a fantastic interview by Olivia Hunt to her friend Caroline who lost her husband John through suicide.
It connects and resonates with the listener the mystery of suicide but more importantly the healing process by Caroline 4 years after.
So very sad but incredibly brave by Olivia who is such a sensitive person herself.
Suicide is becoming a pandemic to replace Covid-19, why are so many wonderful and gorgeous people being lost because of suicide.
Basic functionality below its competitors
First the good points:
The browse feature is fantastic for finding new podcasts
It’s nicely integrated with iOS (as you’d expect)
Now the bad points:
Functionality is very basic compared with other players (overcast, pocket casts, etc). No elimination of silences, no voice boost.
Open “Shows” option and you can’t tell how many unlistened episodes exist for each show (no icon badges).
Sync’ing seems buggy (subscribing on my MBP doesn’t always sync to iPhone, and vice versa). And when it does sync, the unlistened episodes don’t seem to sync correctly.
On initialing opening the app, the first page you see is a list of categories, not the list of shows you’ve subscribed ( or followed!), which is what you usually go to first anyway
No ability to export or import podcast subscriptions from other apps (all other apps support this feature)
I switch between this and Overcast regularly, driven mostly by occurrences of frustration with this app.
I really want to like this app but I’m struggling to.
Very hard to use
If you are listening to a podcast and leave the app you may never find it again. I screenshot the name of the app so I can find it. If there’s a “continue listening” button, I can’t see it. Downloading doesn’t really help nor does pressing “play next”. At least they never work for me. You need to make sure to subscribe or it will disappear forever. It likes to play podcasts backwards. It plays the latest first which is not great if you’re catching up with a podcast that needs to be played in order. Am sure this is a simple setting but I can’t see it. Other apps are much more user friendly
