Convenient and Useful

The whole concept of the app is great. Execution is fairly good too. I use Socar service a few times since I don’t own a car and I find it very convenient and useful for me.

The price (hourly rate, insurance & mileage) is fair, made more affordable if you use promo codes. Car availability and option is good, I always manage to find a car suitable to my budget, timing and location. Car is controlled within the app, so need to make sure battery and network connection is good. Fuel usage is unlimited, and easy to claim in-app. Car conditions are hit-and-miss i.e. some are clean, some are messy. Sometimes, I find the car to be unserviceable but quickly rectified (swap cars) by reaching out to the customer service. Usually unserviceable car would not be listed as available though.

Overall I am very satisfied with Socar. A few hiccups sometimes but usually the process goes smoothly. Recommended to use for people like me who don’t own a car, or if you want to try out different models of cars.

Good idea but worst to use

Hopefully you guys can upgrade all the services faster, it’s been so long since I heard about socar, finally wanna try it ( in 2022!) I expect the service allow us to rent a car and return to anywhere else that socar parking bay, what’s the point to rent a car from airport and I wanna go home but we can only rent a car and return back to the same parking ?! It just doesn’t make any sense for me, might as well just call a grab and I can rest in the car and got home without risk myself to get into any car accident. The idea of renting a car is because of it can be cheaper compare to calling a driver to drive you to where you wanna go right? And if you wanna return to different spot you need to order for the service of socar to get another person to come and pickup your car which it cost around RM50? Besides, the people to come and collect the car it’s called Dashers. It’s a problem for them to earn money from this stupid service too. First of all, they need to bear the cost to go to the pickup location, they can drive there or grab there, which these cost, Socar or Dashers they are not giving any reimbursement. Secondly, after they picked up the car and return to Socar service, they have to take a grab to back to their own car in order to get back their car? Stupid They are not earning, they are doing charity. Might as well just drive the Grab

No phone customer services. Disaapointed

On 20th February I’ve rent their car and I’ve set to return the car at 1.00 PM…started from 9.30 AM but then I’ve been charged delay return fee RM 4.98 due to late return. Why I’m return late? This is because, while I rent the car, drive it…something happened where under ‘inner fender cover’ was ripped off. So, I need to stop aside of the road. At first to me, I troubleshoot it myself. Its ok…but then it happened again multiple times. My normal driving speed normally 80km/hour but because of that problem, I need to slow down to 60 km/h. When it first time happened, I tried to call their customer services but VERY SO DISSAPPOINTED’ the don’t have phone customer services. I want to call them to report it as soon as it occured. Alternatively, all we user can do is report via email. Live chat never help because it was just an AI support which give us button repeatedly the same time. Not helping at all! After when I emailed, the suppor replied can’t refund because ‘ our inability to locate any previous communication regarding the issue you experienced with the car, which required you to stop three times.’ Of course they said like that because they don’t have phone support.
