NZTA Waka Kotahi 4+

I was hoping that when I installed this app, it would be more convenient than simply logging in via a browser on my PC. However, it wasn’t. Even after entering all of my personal details and locating the car I wanted to buy a road user charge for, it still took me to the standard page where I had to manually enter all of those details again, along with the authentication app information.

There’s no quick, easy way to do this on your phone; you have to remember the number in your head, then switch back to the app to enter it correctly—no cut and paste here. When I finally got to the point of entering all the road user amounts, purchase details, and the rest, the payment method was exactly the same as on the webpage (via credit card). However, on the webpage, it’s easier to enter that information with a keyboard rather than using the phone’s keypad.

It would be nice to see Apple Pay here, especially considering I can use facial recognition to authenticate. Apple Pay would save me from having to enter my credit card number, expiry date, name, and all that manually. I hope to see these improvements in the future.

Hi - thanks for the rating and review. In short - we agree. There's work underway to bring payments "back into the app" - apologies, we can't confirm when this change will be made. In a release coming in the next week we are adding the ability to copy and paste licence and licence version information. Regarding Apple Pay - this is on our backlog, however it's further off.

I would personally love to be able to have my driver licence in the app or in my Apple wallet to not have to carry my licence with me , as my phone has every card I ever need when I got out, but I need to carry my driver licence with me , it would be so easy to have my licence in my phone and bob your uncle , that my only complaint

Thanks for taking the time to send feedback. We are working with our colleagues at Ministry of Transport and DIA on what would be required to deliver a digital licence in New Zealand. It will be some time before a digital licence is available in NZ, but the work has begun

I like that I can now keep track of my driver licence expiry date and our car rego/WOF dates without getting out my card or looking in my windshield. I’ve already had a chat with my partner when our rego was showing as almost expired. Looking forward to whatever comes next.
