Buggy App

Assuming if I am satisfied with the media content, I still encounter many bugs with viewing the content. Most of the bugs are related to casting on Google chrome device. One common problem is the streaming playback is in a muted mode and I have no way to unmute it. (Tried the App and Chromecast to no avail) The simplest way I found is to reset Chromecast (and sometimes the App as well). Another common problem is the streaming media doesn’t playback and the App became irresponsive. The solution I found is to toggle the App between background and active screen (strange isn’t it) to reveal the “Play” button. A third issue I found is the App often display an error message of “streaming devices exceeded limit” when I select different episode of media on the same device. In fact there was only one device streaming. Fourthly, when I was viewing a Chinese entertainment catch up programme, I encountered an error of “streaming media encoding could not be played on your device”. I believe most users would like to watch media through casting on TV and I find these bugs are unacceptable. Too many bugs and too painful to use the App. No wonder Starhub is losing market share despite a tightly regulated market in Singapore.

You are able to cast content to TV via Chromecast - we don’t support AirPlay for now.
We also offer 1 month free subscription when you subscribe through your StarHub postpaid bill.

Playback/resume function seem not to work.

Quality of the video is HD but there are a few issues with it.

1) whenever you go in between apps, you have to take note that once you go back to this app, your video will start at the beginning again. So you will have to forward to the part where you stop. Quite frustrating/annoying when you’re the type that keep on switching apps.

2) after a few times of switching apps in between, the video will hang and suddenly stop working. It will show that the video is loading but it will take quite sometime for it to load. Its not about connection error because it occur to me when I'm using both 5G and WIFI connection.

Not a 5 star app but not that bad either

I’m a new Starhub TV subscriber so didn’t have the unpleasant experience of switching to Tv+ & realize it’s less than what it was before. 4 stars purely as an app on mobile devices.

The app works fine on iPad and iPhone; although FAQ stated we can watch TV+ via browser or app, the shows do not load on Safari ie I don’t have an alternative option other than the app.

Compared to Netflix- not great since it only supports live streaming. There’s no free to air local channels either, which is fine cos there’s MeWatch. Also you can’t save favorite channels or shows, so it’s a constant search for content. Compared to Singtel Cast where I was able to watch via airplay, this is disappointing - starhub Go never supported this years ago, and I doubt tv+ will ever work on Apple TV. However, I think tv+ was designed to work on mobile devices, for on the go viewing. To watch on tv, starhub has streaming box for monthly rent of $5.

But judging by the reviews from users who are unhappy about not being able to cast to tv, I’m assuming this was possible previously at least via Chromecast, so it’s silly to release the app prematurely.
