Another piece of great software ruined by horrible sales ethics...Was a great app, but now decided to go the subscription route, as so many other greedy devs have, which is completely unreasonable for an app of this nature. I throw a party roughly every 6 months, which is really the only time I need this app. That come to $48 dollars a party! I understand the need for the devs to make money, but this is a blatant rip off, to say the very least. Hopefully the developer realizes the error of their ways, and promptly remedies the situation, and returns back to the iap format which makes a lot more sense for the type of novel functionality presented in this application.Update: Wow... Guess my update would be that the dev isn’t very friendly either... What they don’t seem to understand is, I actually want to give them my money, just not every stink’n month; I would gladly pay $20 or more for a quality app like this, and I would even pay some more for a few iap. I’m not against paying for applications, in fact, that’s exactly what I want to do. Trust me people, as a software developer myself, I understand the need to make an income from my efforts... but the subscription format clearly was clearly intended for magazine, newspaper, and media style applications.Realistically, If every app on the App Store decided to go the subscription route, the average user wouldn’t be able to afford using more than 5 apps a year. Does that sound reasonable at all?
I hear your complaints about the pricing but it's not changing any time soon. This app is my full-time job and it needs to pays the bills. I offer new effects each month to subscribers and continued direct email support. If you want a free app, try Light DJ Studio. Update: My intent with the subscriptions is to provide continued value to my users. Many users use my app in professional settings and that requires my full attention to handle service issues such as when firmware or OS updates break the app. I treat my app as a service and offer continuous feature updates; I’ve added many features the same week that users request them. I treat all my customers with respect. I’d rather charge a monthly/yearly fee for my services than nickle-and-dime my customers every time I update the app. Sorry if you’re not a fan of the subscriptions but my business needs to be sustainable in the long-term.
