Solid College Savings App

I like the app because I can get a clear quick view on how much we’re saving each year and what we’ll be deducting from our state taxes. I also like that I can increase the monthly deposits right from the app. It’s simple and intuitive. So many financial apps don’t nail that elegant simplicity and create friction and frustration instead, out of touch with the core functions users need and want. So kudos to the team who designed this app.

I like the app because I can get a clear quick view on how much we’re saving each year and what we’ll be deducting from our state taxes. I also like that I can increase the monthly deposits right from the app. It’s simple and intuitive. So many financial apps don’t nail that elegant simplicity and create friction and frustration instead, out of touch with the core functions users need and want. So kudos to the team who designed this app.

1) on the app or website: if you use UGIFT option for your grandparents or friend to put money as part of birthday or Christmas present, the system doesn’t show who the money comes from. It takes deposits up to several weeks to process. 2) the app does not allow you to withdraw money to send to school. You have to access it through a website.3) on the app when you go to the beneficiary information page there is no option to go back to the main menu after that. The only option gives you is to close the account.4) the app has very limited functionality as compared to the website.

It's a 529 but could be better

It's a good way to put away money for your grandkids but investment options could be better and would also like a way to keep fdic insured cash in the account that could be invested at the exact time you want to invest it. Having cash withdrawn from your account, transferred to the 529 account, and finally invested in a fund you're not really even sure what the exact assets in the fund are, their past performance history, or the exact day from the time you initiated the electronic funds transfer the money actually gets invested could all be better. An option to just buy certificates of deposit might also appeal to some as a safe investment alternative.

I like the funds, but app missing basic features

I really like the Vanguard funds used, very low fees and good historical performance. However, the app is missing basic features like, what is my account’s yield performance in % for the month/year/5 years etc. If I have multiple accounts, how do their yield %s compare and what is my overall yield over multiple time horizons? What is the AA of each fund I invest in? Can I compare my current fund performance to others available in NYSaves? If I have an end goal amount, am I on track to reach it? I understand this is not a day trading app, but a little more sophistication is needed to give it 4-5 stars.
