Motra (formerly known as Train Fitness) is the first app to offer automatic exercise tracking, using only the motion of your Apple Watch. Trusted by 100,000+ weight lifters, Motra is the future of AI + gym workouts.
Our application monitors the motion of your Apple Watch, tracking reps for over 470 unique exercise types – completely hands free! Our app will track push ups, bicep curls, 12 types of bench press, squats, deadlifts, and hundreds more! No more manually logging each set.
This automatic tracking is made possible by our patented Neural Kinetic Profiling, an advancement in AI that allows workout tracking using wrist motion.
Unsure what to do at the gym? Using the Motra app, you can generate workouts based on your recovery, goals, and fitness data with the help of AI. Our Smart Weights system will recommend specific workout plans, exercises, sets, and weight… entirely customized to you! Let artificial intelligence build the best possible workout for you, and stop guessing what to do at the gym.
We built Motra because we too are lifters, gym enthusiasts, & fellow athletes, and we're tired of entering a workout log, manually. We believe that a gym workout tracker should be as easy as recording a run, and we’ll stop at nothing to get there. The Motra App is an all-encompassing workout log app that tracks how you move and helps you achieve your strength training goals at the gym. Simply strap on your Apple Watch, and see the magic unfold.
Our application runs on the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer. Unfortunately, we do not support the Apple Watch 1, 2 and 3.

Aside from the fitness app built into the Apple Watch, this is my 3rd workout app. I initially got it because I used Apple health as my tracking hub and I felt like this app had better work out tracking than the others. After experiencing the auto exercise/rep recognition feature, I was really hooked. The app tracks muscle group recovery and the AI will create a routine for your workout that day based on what has recovered. Save that workout as a template, sync it to your Apple Watch and you can leave your phone at home! You can easily tweak the routine and adjust reps/weight after each set which was a big deal for me because I often rep to failure and want this tracked. Until recently, it lacked satisfactory cardio tracking, but as of the last update, it will import your cardio from Apple Health. Apple’s fitness app has great cardio functionality and tracking so now, so does TrainFitness. This new feature has worked great for me so far. Its exercise recognition is not always correct, but you can confirm exercise/reps/weight after each set and easily correct anything erroneous.

This is an incredible review — thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback! We're thrilled that the AI recognition, muscle recovery tracking, and Apple Watch syncing have all been useful in your training. And yes — the new cardio import was a big step forward, and we’re glad it’s working well for you. We’ll keep pushing to improve detection accuracy and overall performance. Thanks for being part of Train Fitness — enjoy the workouts and keep making progress!

I almost never write reviews and if I ever do, they never get 5 stars. This app is extremely convenient and best of all, it’s free to use. You can upgrade to a premium service that will recommend workouts. However, since I have a background in weight lifting, I write my own workout programs. My Apple Watch automatically tracks each set, it’s not 100% accurate but I wouldn’t expect it to be. The workouts are easy to edit on the watch or in the app. I downloaded maybe half a dozen workout apps before this one. Each time they either needed a paid subscription or were inconvenient. If you are still reading this, stop, download this app, start your first workout. The rest is on you, commit to a schedule that works and share your results with others. PS- Proper exercise is only half the battle. Whatever goal you set for yourself is impossible if you don’t have the right diet or state of mind. (Something this app can’t provide)

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. We have lots of big updates coming soon to make the experience even better. In the mean time, enjoy the workouts!
New update is terrible
00’s fan
The app was amazing, however the new update is terrible. Very glad I only use the free version because the changes make the app almost unusable. It no longer records your sets in groups based on exercise, it makes an individual block which makes it exceedingly more difficult to tell how many sets you’ve done if you are in the zone and focusing on the workout alone. It no longer recognizes supersets and struggles to differentiate exercises so it’s very likely you will get a new set of the same exercise you just did if doing supersets, and when you adjust it it changes both sets instead of the one. And there is an added voice to alert you at 1 minute 30 second rest which is meant to be helpful but it’s more annoying than anything. Especially since you will spend more time editing the workout trying to make it accurate than you should and will have you being told to workout in the middle of the edit, let alone spending enough time to take you out of the zone entirely. It gets a 2 star due to it still being free, however it is such a nuisance now I may quit using it entirely. A note to everyone developing apps if it isn’t broke, don’t “fix it” cause you may end up in a situation like this.
Developer Response
We really appreciate how thoughtful and detailed this is. You’re right — we changed how exercises and sets are organized, and this can definitely lead to some friction. Superset handling, automatic grouping, and the new voice rest timer should all be resolved at this time. We’re bringing back simpler, smarter ways to track progress with more user control. Updates are already underway. If you’re still running into any other issues, reach us anytime at hello@trainfitness.ai
Indulge before downloading.

This is my complete and honest review of the app known as Train. The app has an undeniably interesting and astonishing capability to accurately recognize both exercise variety and repetition number. Across exceptionally diverse exercises the app proved its unique features, consistently producing an accurate representation of my workout. Although once the novelty of the applications capabilities faded its flaws began to shine through. First, the recognition regarding the exercises weight usage was abysmal. Second the application had a complete inability to detect machine based, isolation leg exercises. The constant need for adjustment makes the application’s practicality relatively low, therefore I cannot in all good conscience recommend this app for everyday usage. Although I would definitely encourage users to try this app for themselves as it does provide some interesting information. Primarily my edition of the Apple Watch is far from new, possibly affecting the applications veracity. Additionally, the application does inform users that the increased frequency of app usage does indeed increase the application’s accuracy, thus due to my limited trial’s and my outdated equipment my assessment may be incomplete. Though I am unaware of the extent that modern equipment and additional information can improve the application’s features, I am doubtful that it would ensure improvements necessary for me to make said investments of my time and updating my hardware. I would much prefer my own programming and tracking, thus not requiring external input regarding what exercise, repetition, and weight I am using, as for my uses they are predetermined. 4.5/10 certifiably mid.

Thanks for the feedback Dwight. To be clear: Train does NOT detect weight. This is highlighted in numerous spots in our onboarding. How would this be possible? We do remember and predict what weight might be coming next, but no, unfortunately we can't magically guess the weight you're holding. Machine-based isolation leg work is also notoriously difficult to detect on any wearable because there’s minimal wrist movement, something we’ve explained openly and are actively working on.If you're training style is “predetermined” and you prefer pen-and-paper or spreadsheets, we wish you all the best.
Version 6.1.2 is a minor update that introduces sorting for custom exercises and templates. You can now sort either your custom exercises or custom templates to allow easier filtering.
