I loved Zombies Run - it's helped me go from not running to doing 2-3 5K runs per week, and really helped me implement a lifestyle change. In the first three seasons, I loved the writing (some episodes are a little silly, but by and large it's compelling), loved the voice acting, and loved the base building. Be sure to listen to radio mode too - it adds a lot to the experience and some depth to the world. I typically do a half hour run listening to an episode, followed by half an hour walk with radio mode, which works perfectly for me.However, three things have happened in the last few seasons that irk me greatly. First, the timeline has become inconsistent - all the cultural references indicate the zombie outbreak was meant to be contemporaneous with the release of season 1, circa 2011. However, later seasons have available AI and technology that simply wasn’t available in 2011, and this greatly distracts from the immersion in the story. Second, some plot lines have essentially jumped the shark - I can believe in one unbelievable thing (zombies), but don’t introduce additional ones - without providing spoilers, I’d say the Moonchild story ends up at a ridiculous place, as does the Veronica storyline. Finally, there’s too much of the “we’re going to die, oh, phew, we were saved at the last second”. You can get away with that once maybe, but it gets ridiculous after a while. I really hope they can improve the storyline for season 8, and that they plan out multi season story arcs.
