Landrule, is the comeback kid of the App Store. My fellow Risk enthusiasts have been exchanging armies across the board for years and we are so grateful for the platform that Landrule has provided! While once a glitchy, lagging application has now been upgraded and debugged to a modern game full of nuance, and strategic intellectual stimulation. If you are looking for healthy competition against your fellow man in a game of global domination (in the modern era) look no further than Landrule.

There’s only a few maps where you can win on the “harder difficulty”. The free ones, you can win relatively often once you understand the strengths of the map. However, the large maps that you have to purchase are literally impossible to beat on the harder difficulty. There’s always one team that gets completely left alone and dominates, where if you try to take over too much at one time, every team gangs up on you to the point where you can never get ahead. By the time you can gain a solid area for yourself, another team has dominated half the map. Please fix the AI on the larger maps because it’s lliterally in playable. In case someone from the development team reads this, the maps I’m talking about are:British Isles India North America And possibly more since I haven’t bought them all. I’m scared to, because I don’t want to buy an unplayable map.

The old app still looked like it was designed around iPhones from 2010, sure, but at least it didn’t have half of the screen be fully grey most of the time. The algorithm that’s trying to always perfectly center the screen on the current fight is far too dumb and needs to better account for vertical screen space. Zooming in/out is not a useful feature and isn’t worth this dramatically worse experience.

There are a lot of maps to play for free and a lot more to buy for a buck a piece. There's a good amount of people playing. And unlike the Risk app, you can have up to a 24 hour shotclock. Risk has at most 10 minutes. Also, just recently the developers have been making iOS updates, which has greatly improve the experience.
