When you pair your Uniden R/TACH detector with the R/TACH app, you'll receive real-time alerts directly on your Device Screen. Stay ahead of potential threats with instant notifications and easily control alert events like Mute and Mute Memory from your screen. Drive with confidence using the Map Screen Mode, which provides location awareness for known red-light and speed camera spots. Mark User Locations on the map to get notified as you approach points of interest. Plus, enjoy Lifetime Free Updates to the red-light/speed camera location database with your Uniden detector. Connect your R4w, R8w, R9w detector to your home Wi-Fi network (e.g., in your garage) to conveniently update your detector’s firmware and red-light/speed camera database. Simply set up your home Wi-Fi SSID and Password in the app's Wi-Fi Settings to stay current with the latest updates. Adjusts settings only

It seems to be at adjusting settings, however the map page needs massive improvements to be anywhere near functional. Also, the app does have an option to prevent screen lock so it is only useful for a minute or so when driving. Hopefully this is just the start with significant improvements on the way.

Brand New to uniden

Just bought a R8W, and received it within 24 hours. Fantastic shipping. Did the install with my existing power hook up and everything everything went flawlessly. Connecting from the app to the right out detector was super simple with the instructions provided. Check to make sure it was on the latest firmware, which was super easy. Connected it to Wi-Fi, which took 15 seconds. Just make sure when you’re connecting to Wi-Fi you join the Wi-Fi on your phone that you want the radar detector to join so it easily picks out the SSID. Overall user experience has been great. Looking forward to using my new Uniden.

App allows you to easily customize your detector (I’m using the R8). It also allows you to run the detector “dark”, with the display off, for stealth as all display elements are replicated in the app (I look at my phone instead of the detector to see the alerts). It also lets you know if there are any software updates to install.

Wish it worked with CarPlay

I want to like this app but I hardly use it I don’t need 2 maps open and having my phone on during the entire ride is a bit annoying having to look at my phone and then my nav map , I wish it worked with car play might switch over to the escort systems for that feature
