ABOUT ONEMAIN FINANCIAL
We provide personal loans that can help you get the money you need, for purposes such as:
- Debt consolidation
- Home improvement
- Auto purchase or repair
- Vacations
- Emergencies
- Major purchases
Our minimum and maximum loan repayment periods are 24 months and 60 months. The maximum Annual Percentage Rate (APR) for a personal loan is 35.99%. Minimum and maximum loan amounts are $1,500 and $20,000.
Not all applicants qualify for larger loan amounts or most favorable loan terms. Larger loan amounts require a first lien on a motor vehicle no more than 10 years old that meets our value requirements, titled in your name with valid insurance. Loan approval and actual loan terms depend on your state of residence and your ability to meet our credit standards (including a responsible credit history, sufficient income after monthly expenses and availability of collateral). APRs are generally higher on loans not secured by a vehicle. Highly qualified applicants may be offered higher loan amounts and/or lower APRs. Loan proceeds cannot be used for post-secondary educational expenses, for any business or commercial purpose, to buy cryptocurrency or other speculative investments, or for gambling or illegal purposes. Active-duty military, their spouse or dependents covered by the Military Lending Act may not pledge a vehicle as collateral.
Borrowers in these states are subject to these minimum loan sizes: Alabama: $2,100. California: $3,000. Georgia: $3,100. North Dakota: $2,000. Ohio: $2,000. Virginia: $2,600.
Borrowers in these states are subject to these maximum loan sizes: North Carolina: $11,000 for unsecured loans to all customers; $11,000 for secured loans to present customers. Maine: $7,000. Mississippi: $12,000. West Virginia: $13,500. Loans to purchase a motor vehicle or powersports equipment from select ME, MS, and NC dealerships are not subject to these maximum loan sizes.
We charge loan origination fees. Depending on the state where you open the loan, the fee may be a flat amount or percentage of the loan amount. Flat fee amounts vary by state, ranging from $25–$500. Percentage-based fees vary by state, ranging from 1%–10% of the loan, subject to certain state limits on the fee amount.
Example Loan: A $6,000 loan with a 24.99% APR repayable in 60 monthly installments would have monthly payments of $176.07.
When refinancing or consolidating existing debts, total finance charges over the life of the new loan may be higher than your current debt because the interest rate may be higher and/or the loan term may be longer. Our loans include origination fees, which may reduce the amount of money available to pay off other debts.

The app is great and I’m almost done paying my loan off. Unfortunately I can’t say that about the company it’s self, I’ve never missed a payment the whole time. The original loan was for $5000 because I needed help with financing and a down payment on my place and like I said I’ve been it off with no problem and when my loan amount was as low as $1000 I had inquired with them about needing help paying my credit down and spoke to someone in OneMain some how they could gove me a loan for about $17,000 but I felt like that was excessive and I didn’t want to run the risk of not being able to pay them so I asked for a $7000 loan which I knew I would be able to pay off but they sent me an email saying they wouldn’t be able to help me. I was shocked and I feel like they just wanted me to be in debt and put up my car for collateral instead of having a customer pay them every month once I finish paying my loan I will never come here again and gor any customer’s in the future shouldn’t either they just want people to be in their debt sadly

Dependent on the type of loan, decisions are made based on a variety of factors including credit history, income, and expenses. Not all loans require collateral, but those that do also take into account the value of that collateral. Please feel free to reach out to your local branch if you have any questions. Your loan specialist would be happy to address any concerns you may have and determine the best solution for your situation: https://spr.ly/OMFBranches. Thank you. -SG
Worst mistake I’ve ever made

I refinanced through onemain. On a Jeep compass. I’ve been paying 600 dollars plus per month since 2019. Not even half of that payment goes towards paying the payment down. They argue the interest will adjust as time goes by. Like hell it does! I’ve paid well over 54,000 dollars on a 17,000 dollar vehicle that at this point, blue book states it’s only worth 3,000! They claim to help you, by robbing you blind and never letting up. I’ve never missed a payment without telling them first that I was going to be missing a payment. Had 2 emergencies throughout the past 7 years that required calling in and using that money elsewhere. Oh they’re friendly for sure! But they’re not there to help you at all. Rather, take your money and make you feel like you’ve made the worst decision of your life! One would think that when you’ve paid your car off 5 times over, that they got enough money from the deal! But no! The jeep is now sitting in my garage in need of repairs, which I am doing and asking myself if it’s even worth it. Asking myself if I want to take the hit to my credit and give this piece of junk to onemain. It is a very greedy company. And the only time I run into businesses with excessive greed, they are foreign run entities and I won’t do business with them. However with this, I’m trapped! Onemain got their money but they want more and more and more! They’ve been sued multiple times for taking advantage of their customer base. For me, this company can go to hell!

App malfunction, Unprofessional service after they’re done with you

When I got my first loan with them, I was greeted with the nicest people and they really helped me get everything settled and logged into the app. When the first payment came around, the app stopped allowing me to log in saying, “Sorry, something has gone terribly wrong. Our team will look into it.” And it’s been like this for months. I just made my payments online through my browser. When I reached out to see if I could get a second loan, my first attempt was by calling my branch number I received when I applied the first time and I was greeted with an automated recorded line that hung up on me telling me to apply online. My second attempt through the webpage on my browser, minutes after I applied I received a phone call but when asked for my most recent check stub, I needed a moment to gather it. The lady told me to call her back when I’m able to and she’ll help me complete my application. I’ve submitted my documents not even 5 minutes after we hung up because I got an email for my check stub right away. They picked up and said she’ll call me back. She never did. The next day I called, I was greeted with the automated message again to leave a voicemail I know I won’t get a phone call in return. My only problem really is, if I wasn’t approved of another loan please just let me know instead of ghosting me. That’s extremely unprofessional and all I can do is a leave a complaint that will probably get responded to by a bot saying I could “reach out” to someone who won’t even help me with my current situation. It’s just extremely frustrating when I know I’m waiting on a ghost but I’m still expecting a call.

They were there for me when nobody else was

After a traumatic brain bleed and stroke, my credit took a bad hit. Over $100k in medical bills and not able to work left me financially crippled. I needed to take a trip to see my mom before she passed, but I didn’t have the money to do so. I was turned down for a loan everywhere, but just as I thought all hope was lost, One Main took a chance on me. So I may pay a little higher interest, but that’s understandable considering my low credit rating. My mom passed a month after I saw her. My last memory was when I hugged and kissed her and she told me I was always very special to her. If it wasn’t for One Main, I wouldn’t have that memory. I can’t express enough how grateful I am. If you need help like I did, give them a call. Worst case scenario, they say no. Best case scenario they can do for you what they did for me. I am a customer for life.If the fine folks at One Main ever read this, “thank you, thank you, thank you!” ☮️❤️🫱🏼🫲🏻
