Step backward

Maybe I am just set in my ways (though generally I am always going for bath and new versions) but I find v8 to be a step back in usability. All I want it to do is display my passwords when I log in with an option to see software license, ids, etc. Instead I get the Home Screen and have to through a multi step process to see passwords. Maybe it is faster, but I never had an issue with the version. I don’t like the look of the new as much as the old and find it cluttered. The only thing I do I like is the ability to fill in user ids and passwords, but that doesn’t always work. So I now have a multi step process to get to passwords. Then the iOS version does not allow you to paste in email or password fields so I have to do that on my Mac. Why is there a “document” option when it includes everything from membership, passports, identities? I can’t delete from documents because it then deletes everywhere. The option to add other categories is nice but because everything ended up in documents I need to renter. Why is there no option to move items previously entered? I am going to switch to using Apple passwords. The only thing I really lose is the ability to export all passwords as an emergency backup.

1Password is still the best!

I’ve been using 1Password for almost a decade now and it’s the only subscription I have that I have not questioned once. It has been so exciting to see the positive changes that have been made over the last few years: from a VASTLY improved Windows experience to the improved autofill-big across all platforms (thank you, Rust <3), to this new 1Password 8 app.

I have not previously reviewed 1Password but when I saw the many recent poor reviews, I was discouraged. However, upon reading the reviews many of them seem to stem from misunderstanding or confusion. I actually think the forced master password every two weeks is more secure (though I could see from a user experience how it could be annoying) and there are some fundamental ways that organizing things has changed since previous versions. The fact that the app itself is no longer 17+ is a big win for parental control capabilities also. For me, I have been using 1Password 8 on my Mac and on Windows before this iOS/iPadOS version came out so maybe that’s why my experience has been seamless. All it takes is a little time to understand the way 1Password works now and it’s just as great, and dare I say, faster, than before.

Just want to send a big THANK YOU to all you wonderful people at 1Password. I have used many other password managers and whether you measure by security, cross-platform experience, or just general usability, nothing else comes close.

Nice new skin, under the hood frustratingly buggy

I've been with 1P for several generations. This is by far the worst or most premature rollout I've experienced. The theme style of iOS and MacOS apps are better. But they removed their native browser yet the app doesn't display options to fill passwords in any browser (FF, Safari, Chrome, Opera, Brave). You have to leave the app or website you're logging into and copy the url, login email or user ID, then password one at a time, switching between 1P and your browser or app. If this was intentional, it's a stupid move -- quadruples the time and steps you spend logging in anywhere; if it wasn't intentional, why did they release the app with such a glaring bug?? Search and triggering functionality in browsers used to be so simple, but now has multiple steps to access passwords. The app used to quietly reside in the background - as it should, but now wants to be the star, which is foolish. Hopefully they work out these poorly chosen UX/UI features or fix the bugs. Wait until it's multiple children into the generation if you're considering 1P 8. Read the reviews first to see if they improved it before making the switch.

Hi there. We built 1Browser at a time when Safari extensions weren’t possible and it was the only way for 1Password to fill passwords. Now, iOS has an AutoFill Passwords feature and we have a new 1Password extension for Safari, making this the right time to retire 1Browser. This also means that 1Password 8 will not be rated 17+, a requirement that only existed because of 1Browser.

What you're experiencing with autofill doesn't sound right - we're sorry about that! Our Support team can absolutely get you up and running. Send an email to support@1password.com and let them know what's happening and someone will reach out to help. 🙂
