Turo. Rental reinvented.
I’ve enjoyed renting cars with Turo and maintained my 5 star Guest rating until today when I received an outstanding invoice of $615🤯. Here is what happened… Three months ago I rented a car and paid for 30 days and got monthly discount applied… Returned the car (5 days earlier which was confirmed over the phone with Turo rep to make sure there is no extra charges) and that rental order was closed no problem. Fast forward two months, today receiving that $615 invoice, calling support, they are saying that your discount was automatically changed from monthly to 3-week discount and that is the reason for that invoice… I’m asking to fix it, but after being kept on the phone holding on and off for almost two hours, I’m told there is nothing they can fix, even though I explained that at the time of dropping the car earlier I had a confirmation over the phone with Turo customer service that there will be no extra charges. Now I need to escalate my issue to the management because it doesn’t seem like Turo customer service can figure it out. You can do better Turo!Update: the rep just promised to review all previous communications including calls and send me an update within one hour… So I hope they figure out the issue and cancel that invoice altogether, because you can not be changing terms of the deal two months later, charging people $615, it’s just wrong 😤
Refused full refund, with partial refund to travel credit that I cannot use.

I am blown away at the fraudulent practices I have witnessed on this app. I am in need of a rental after my car and it’s contents were stolen. I reserved a car with a total cost of over $280. The car was for commuting to and from work. I didn’t really have the $ to spend but have to work and Turo was more economical than two uber rides each day. Since my car was stolen, my license has passed its expiration date, so I took a day off work; and since Alabama has a 60 day grace period in which my license is still valid, I was using the first day of my rental to go renew my valid license. As I was leaving to pick up my rental, I get a notification that due to issues with expired license and photos that Turo was canceling my rental and only refunding $150 of the $280 rental that THEY wouldn’t allow me to check in to. There policy CLEARLY STATES that if they cancel the trip a full refund will be issued immediately. Even with screenshots of the notification, their own policy, and information from Alabama’s DMV website they said their partial refund was final. And the real kicker is that refund was issued as travel credit that I can neither access as cash or redeem for a rental, so in reality they have refunded NOTHING, leaving me with absolutely no transportation to work. BEWARE, the policy that is written to make you comfortable using the app is NOT the policy they follow in reality.

My first trip
Lie to me one more time
This was my first trip with Turo. The pick up was as easy as I was told it was the keys were placed on one of the tires. I took pictures and besides low windshield wiper fluid and tire pressure and a little bit of cleanliness it was on all an amazing trip. Unfortunately, we got caught in a snowstorm and was forced to wait the storm out which led to me, dropping it off later than anticipated. I tried multiple times to contact the owner with no response. I did see he had a trip booked, but it wasn’t going to be until the next day so I figured the best thing I could do was make sure the car was completely filled with gas. The windshield wipers fluid fluid was filled with the tire pressure was filled, and I cleaned the car as if I was going to be the one driving it. I seen the owner on my way out. I placed the key exactly where he placed it for me. He checked it out and then I left all in all. It was very easy. Check in very easy checkout very convenient of the communication could be better, but everything else was great so far I definitely at this moment recommend this to my friends and family and thus far unless anything changes, I am very impressed and I will book again in the future. Thank you for allowing me to have an experience with my family that I haven’t seen in five years. It allowed for memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Toro and thank you to the owner.
Be careful, the insurance or their warranty are all false.

My car was rented to a renter that was arranged by Turo for a trip from end of November 2018 to December 2018. This renter received to parking tickets in New York City, one for double parking and another for parking next to a fire hydrant. I had no idea this guests received these citations. The car was returned safely to me, four months later another renter from Turo took the car to New York City this month, August 2019, and the city placed a boot on the car. The new renter frantically called me afraid with what happened, if my car was being repo-d or something. I asked if there is a number I should call. I called the New York City boot Release and I learned that the tickets were given in December 2018 when it was rented thru Turo. Now I called Turo to see if they can issue a reimbursement of tickets that was received to the prior renter. They said we’ll look into this and they responded by saying we will not issue a refund, bc reimbursement timeframe has passed. It is only 90 days from end of trip. I’m out a total of 644 dollars!!!!!!!! The trip only earned me 345 not including depreciation and mileage time lost. In all their service is outsourced and there is no true service. Clearly, those aren’t my tickets, however, the chose to not pay for the tickets that their renter had received. So all in all. You are still responsible for your own car even though they charge 30% for commission. The company is a joke. Move on, don’t get desperate.
