Map suggestion
I like the app. I downloaded it before a roadtrip out of state, and I felt much safer about the food choices we made.
I downloaded have a suggestion for the map, though. Having major route numbers show up on the map would have been helpful to gauge where the places were in relation to where we were. I found myself having to go in and out of the app, looking up where places were and that was a real hassle. I subscribed for a month to try it out. If the map feature was improved I would probably subscribe for the year, but until then, I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle if I’m not traveling.

Celiac? Maybe stick to FMGF for now
I got my hopes up after seeing an ad for Atly and it even had me fill out a survey about my GF requirements and how careful I am, so I expected to see those answers reflected in the app, or at least the ability to filter by them. Unfortunately when you get into the app, it’s just another review site with a map and an overwhelming number of filters, nothing guiding you to GF info. I believe there might be more features behind the paywall, but after the loss of trust going from the excitement from the ad to feeling like I pulled up Yelp But New, I haven’t been interested in setting up a trial I’ll need to put extra work in to use to know if I want to keep it or cancel.
I’m not uninstalling the app yet because I do have hope and want to give this app a fair shot at proving themselves to be the app the ad framed them as, and I will update this review if my feelings change. I’m writing this review to put pressure on the execs who decided to put the cart before the horse so much with the ad campaign. Those of us with celiac rely so much on trust and our community, so trust should be a pillar of a product designed for us. Or you should clearly label that you aren’t for us, that’s fine too, just let us know and don’t advertise to us if you aren’t backing it up

Hi awillisson, we really appreciate that you took the time to write out your concerns. We have a map with over 170K restaurants worldwide - perhaps the quiz directed you to the main app homepage? We'd love to help and hear your thoughts too, please email us at info@atly.com
not worth the price
The idea is great but the execution is not. I’ve been to places that are marked ‘100% gf’ on their map that actually only have one or two gluten free options, and I’ve been to places marked ‘high risk of cross contact’ that were 100% gf! I’ve also clicked on plenty of places in their map that claim to have good gf options and then you start reading the reviews and all the reviews are talking about how bad the restaurant is for gf people! Most of the time when you search the restaurant on Google to compare all the reviews on Ally are exactly the same, which makes me think they just use AI to scrape google/yelp/etc. for key words. It works in big cities but not outside of that, and this is coming from someone who has tried to use it in Europe, United States, and Asia, so I gave it a fair shot! Ultimately it’s just WAY TO EXPENSIVE for what it is! You can pay for multiple other gf apps, spend less than this subscription and get higher value for it. I understand that some charge is necessarily but $20/month?! That’s outrageous.

Hi Caitlin, this map combines everything in one place: researched data, restaurant vetting, google reviews (as requested by our subscribers!), we work with celiac healthcare professionals, and the map is moderated daily by our team, who checks the dozens of new places and hundreds (!) of new reviews that are added weekly by our community members.
Caitlin, we'd love to have a chat and hear more of your thoughts - it really helps us improve! kindly send us an email to: support@atly.com
